Advance Documents Submission for Appointments at U.S. Consulate
Download and print your appointment letter, the visa application forms along with the checklist of documents to be submitted to VFS prior to the interview.

Drop off your advance documents to any of the applicable Application Centers. For the appointment at Mumbai, submit them in VFS Ahmedabad, Mumbai or Pune on any working day between 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. For H or L visa appointment at Hyderabad, submit them at VFS Hyderabad.

You can not send the documents by courier or post as they will not be accepted. You must hand them over in person across the counter at VFS. Anyone including friends or relatives can hand over the documents at VFS. It is not mandatory for the applicant to go there. However, if the applicant is not present, and if there are any issues with photographs etc, such issues can't be corrected right away and the person would have to return again to VFS.

Mumbai: Your documents must reach them a minimum of 3 working days prior to your scheduled interview date. e.g., if your interview is scheduled on Friday, you must submit your documents at latest by the preceding Tuesday, provided all days in between are working days.

Hyderabad: For H (H-1B, H-3, H-4) and L (L-1, L-2) visa applicants only, your documents must reach them a minimum of 4 working days prior to your scheduled interview date.

In fact, it is recommended that you forward your documents to VFS immediately after scheduling an interview. If you don't submit the documents by the required deadline, it will result in cancellation of your appointment.
