India Emergency Visa
Eligibility
Emergency visas are granted to persons of Indian origin only holding a U.S. passport, in case of a genuine emergency like death or illness of a blood relative (such as parents, children or siblings/). The decision of the Consular Officer will be final regarding what constitutes an emergency.

Emergency service will not be available to applicants falling under reference categories.

Weddings, visits for a religious purpose or visits for tousit/family do not fall in this category.

Availability and Working Hours
Working hours for such service is 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

They are available only on Saturdays and other holidays that fall on weekdays (Monday to Friday). It is not available on Sundays and other national holidays like January 26, August 15 and October 2.

This service is not available for visa applications sent by mail.

Documents
  • Documentary proof of emergency such as death or medical certificate.

  • A confirmed printed flight ticket (not itinerary e.g. e-ticket) for the same day on which the visa is being sought. If the departure date falls on a working day, please apply on that day at Travisa Outsourcing.

  • San Francisco only:
    • Renunciation of Indian Citizenship / Surrender of Indian Passport or last held Indian passport in original.

    • Original of first Indian passport issued to applicant in India / copy of green card or copy of EAD card / I-130 (copy of this document can be obtained from USCIS.)

  • For entry visa, proof of Indian origin must be submitted, such as
    • Indian Passport or its copy

    • Naturalization (citizenship) certificate mentioning county of former Nationality as India.

    • Surrender certificate

    • Birth certificate and copies of parents' Indian Passports

Fees and Charges
In addition to the normal visa fees, there is an emergency charge of $35 for the issue of a visa on the same day.

However, an "entry visa" for the period of six months will be issued issued against the additional fees of $100 subject to providing visa application along with supporting documents, as listed above. The total fee will be $213 in this case.

You must pay all the fees either by money order or cashier's check. Personal checks or cash will not be accepted.
