PIO Card Fees
The fee for a PIO Card is U.S. $368 for adults and for children below the age of 18
years is U.S. $188. If you hold a passport other than a U.S. passport, add $20 to this fee, as the reference fee.
Additionally, the processing fees and penalties (if applicable) apply for renunciation of Indian citizenship and getting a surrender certificate.
If the application for PIO card is in lieu of a lost PIO card, a fee of $103 would apply instead. Besides, an application would also be required to submit a Police Report for the loss of a PIO card.
For those applying at Travisa Outsourcing, add $12 as Processing Service Fee to the above fees. All fees (not just processing service fee) should be made payable to "Travisa Outsourcing". You can make the combined payment for all the fees.
The fee once paid is non-refundable in any situation, even if the application is withdrawn or service can not be rendered.
For those applying in India, the fee for a PIO card would be Rs. 15,000 for an adult or Rs. 7,500 for a child up to 18 years of age.
Gratis Card (PIO card at no charge) may be issued to an exceptionally eminent person of Indian Origin who plays an important role in building bridges between India and the country of his/her adoption, if he/she expresses a desire to obtain the PIO card.

Payments Tips
- Payment through personal check or credit/debit cards is not accepted.
-
You should sign and write your name on the cashier's check/money order/postal order (CC/MO/PO).
-
You can combine the application fee and the mailing fee in one CC/MO/PO.
-
You can combine the fees of two or more applicants in on CC/MO/PO. However, you should write the name of the first application on CC/MO/PO.
-
If your CC/MO/PO is not honored (by you putting a 'stop payment' or for any other reasons), you will be charged a penalty in addition to the penalties levied by the bank. If you refuse to pay them, legal action will be taken, including the cancellation of the service, if already provided.
Appeal
The consulate earnestly appeals to the members of the Indian community not to pay more than the prescribed
amount of fee to anyone or encourage any middlemen or agents as it spoils the reputation of the community.
In any event, the public should not make any payment for which receipt is not given by the Consulate. The community
should take every precaution against accepting forged/counterfeit travel documents from unscrupulous elements.
