An application fee of $131 (or its equivalent in Mexican pesos or Canadian dollars)
in advance at any branch of Banco BANAMEX (Banamex Bank). This fee needs to be paid
after entering Mexico and before the interview. The bank will issue a receipt
which must be presented at the time of the visa interview.
Some visas may have an additional visa issuance fee (Citizens of India no longer have
visa issuance fees, except blanket L1 applicants). In that case, payment needs to be
made to the US Consulate cashier. Only US dollars and Mexican pesos are accepted for payment. Credit cards are NOT accepted.

Original DS-156, Non-Immigrant Visa Application Form
If you make an online appointment, you will be able to fill out all the details of this form online
and print it out from your computer.
You must print and bring all 3 pages of the completed Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF),
including the barcode, to your visa interview.
If you are a citizen of Cuba, North Korea, People's Republic of China, Russia or Vietnam, you must also bring
two DS-156 forms and two photos.

Original DS-157, Supplemental Non-Immigrant Visa Application Form. This is required
if you are a male between ages 16 and 45.
If you make an online appointment, you will be able to fill out all the details of this form online
and print it out from your computer.

Original bachelor's and/or master's degree certificates or transcripts.
If this is not available, get a letter from your school stating a valid reason why.

Copies of tax returns

Latest bank statement proving that you have enough financial resources to take
care of your expenses.

In case of a lost or stolen previous visa, present the policy report.

Consular officer does not accept Form I-797 as sufficient evidence for visa adjudication.
Petition approval and visa eligibility must be confirmed in the Department of State's Petition
Information Management Service (PIMS) database. PIMS verification takes on average 24-48 hours to
complete. A visa will not be authorized in the interim.
When scheduling the appointment, you will be asked for the approved I-129 petition receipt number.
If you schedule an appointment earlier, you should fax a copy of your approved I-797 to the NIV section
at least 72 hours prior to your interview data. Please include the date and time of your appointment, as well
as the confirmation number given to you by the appointment call center.
Consular staff will determine whether your petition is registered in PIMS, and if it is not, will request
that the petition be verified and added to the database.
Even though the consular emdeavprs to provide the most expeditious service possible, there is no
guarantee of same day service and the the visa processing may takes. Therefore, you should make
trip arrangements accordingly.

Fax in advance a copy of the approved petition (I-797) and a list with the names
of workers, including any substitutions and reasons explaining the substitutions. Fax must be sent to the consulate's appointment coordinator.

Before the appointment date, all F, J, M visa applicants must have confirmation from the
sponsoring institution (such as school, program exchange organization, etc.) that your name
and your dependents' names, if applicable, have been added electronically to the SEVIS
(Student and Exchange Visitor Information System). The confirmation must also address your acceptance in the school
or exchange program. Visas can't be issued until your data appears in SEVIS system.
- F-1, M-1 and major of J-1 applicants must pay additional $100 for SEVIS fees, made payable to
the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), before the issuance of the visa. You can pay online at
FMJFee.com with a major credit card.
You must carry a proof of payment of the SEVIS fee to the interview.
- Evidence of financial means to pay for the costs of the program. Actual documentation may vary,
but it can be documentation from the institution verifying that the program has been paid for, bank account
statements, letters from sponsors or the parentsparents, etc.
