Patience and hard work has paid off
Pd - feb 2020 . Married to LPR.
Had my interview at San Jose Field Office on aug 3rd
Entered the bldg 15 mins before. Security done, interview notice was scanned and we were given a token number. Then asked to wait in the main waiting room. Within 2-3 mins our number was called out.
We had our 11 month old baby with us.
The officer was a pleasant man.
He ushered us into his office
We took our oaths and we’re then asked to be seated. The officer asked for our ids. Then he asked for my passport. He scanned it and started asking me questions about my visits to the US. Number of trips, duration, reason. Gave a detailed explanation of it. Then asked my basic info like name, dob, address, work details, kids, etc. we answered all questions patiently and to the point.
He then asked for my husbands tax returns and pay stubs.
Then proceeded to the yes/no questions.
Then asked to see our marriage documents, my birth certificate, ssn, kids birth certificate. Verified all the documents.
He then asked us if we have any other proof of bonafide marriage. We had a huge folder. It was all organised and detailed (co habitation, joint finances, shared insurances, transaction receipts, shared cell phone plan, trips and vacation details, joint memberships, and a lot more)
Also had an album with 200+ photos)
He went through the folder patiently. Didn’t ask anything about it
Then went through the album.flipped through all the pages.( we had captioned most imp photos)
Then kept a few proof documents with him.
He said that’s all from my end. Asked if we had any questions. We said no. He said I still need to review a few things, and then he needs to work out a few other things about the approval (since we’re LPR and not US citizen) he said that could take a while. Like 2 months at least.
We were disappointed but still were hopeful. We left the bldg with a certain glum. As soon as we drove out, I realised that I forgot to give the i693 medical form. Was super worried now. I knew how imp this form is and would simply delay the case unnecessarily. We turned back, I ran inside the bldg, but the security guys wouldn’t let me enter. I told them it’s really imp I give this form to the officer. They said let us try calling him. They tried twice but no answer. They said he must in the middle of another interview and we can’t disturb him. With a very heavy heart we left. Didn’t speak a word the whole way. Kept worrying that what if I get an RFE…delay for no reason..plus I may need to get another form from the doctor, if this one expires.. extra charge for no reason..
When we reached home I told my husband I’m going back. I don’t care if I have to wait the whole day in the parking but we have to try our best. He went to work nd I went back to the field office. When I entered the bldg again, the security guards recognised me nd smiled. I apologised and requested if they could plz try contacting the officer once more. They were very kind to oblige. This time the officer answered and they told him about me. The guard told me he’s coming out. The officer came with in a few minutes and I got to hand over the medical form to him personally. I thanked him a million times and left happily.
At 3 pm same day, case status changed to new card being produced.
We were sooooo happy.
Next day (aug 4th) case is approved
Now waiting for the card in mail.
What a journey!!!
Don’t lose faith, be patient, and don’t leave any stone unturned.
God bless you all!!

I'm writing to everyone for help. I am in a relationship that I am abused and threatened daily. I have photos of scars and injuries my wife has afflicted on me since the marriage. I want a way out, but I don't know what to do. She called the cops on me and later redacted the statement saying she overreacted. I'm in constant turmoil. Please, what can I do? How do I get out?. I'm so stressed every day that I can't work. I pay every bill, and I am still not doing enough.
I’ve checked this site for many years now and it was very helpful to navigate my immigration and visa experiences in this country. I wanted to give back a little by sharing my experience in case it could help.
