Adjustment of Status - I-485

Hello everybody,

To make long story short, I will summarize my experience.

I came to USA on a B2 visa in 2015. By beginning of 2018 I met my wife (US citizen) and we got married by the end of 2019. It is mine and my wife’s first marriage. We had our first interview in February of 2019 and we were not separated. Interview was conducted in Chicago FO and it was super positive experience, just basic questions. Officer told me that he will approve my green card and my status changed to “Interview was completed and my case must be reviewed”. Then 3 months later we were called for second interview and we got separated by the same officer. I was called in first and then my wife. Again it was super smooth, we were not given any hard time. We stayed 30 minutes each in the office. By the time my wife was done inside, officer just told her that we will hear from them in the mail. We were not given any paper, wich is weird. When my wife and I discussed questions we were asked, we think that we answered good.

 So it has been 8 months already without any updates since last interview and status for both I-130 and I-485 is “Interview was completed and my case must be reviewed”. We raised one service request couple of months ago and their response was that case is pending review.

There was no house visits, no RFE, no word from them.

Is there anybody here with similar experience?

I had applied my family green card Dec 2020. I got the interview call June 2021 and it was cancelled due to the unforeseen circumstances. Later, I haven't heard back anything from them yet. I'm not sure what's happening. Can anybody please help thanks in advance.

Applied for I-130 concurrent with 485 2017 and got denied 2020….It was stated on the denial notice I should file form I-290B if I think the reason for denial was not acceptable. I did and it got denied after one month and they stated I should have appealed and not motion to reopen. I wrote letter to USCIS with the denial letter were they clearly instructed me to file I-290B. Immediately I reapplied for I-130 concurrent with 485 again.

Two months later USCIS send a mail they have reopened the I-290B also reissued another denial along with it and I must filed appeal or they will close the case. Since I am doing all this by myself I sent them the appeal after all I have nothing to loose. They kept quiet since 2020.

November 3 2021, they sent us interview notice slated for Dec 3. The interview was more like the first one but more questions. After the interview officer told us he can’t make a decision because of our previous case that is pending and we should give him 60 days to make a decision.

Jan 20, 2022 I did case inquiry for the I-290B and this was the mail I received from USCIS today:

What We Have Done
USCIS has reviewed and approved your application. According to USCIS records, an approval notice has been mailed to the address currently on file

What You Can Do
If you would like to request a duplicate copy of the approval notice, please file a Form I-824 (Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition), along with the applicable filing fee and your original signature. Please include your Receipt Number on Part 3 of Form I-824.

I check online my case still showing Interview was completed and your case must be reviewed.

Hello my travel document was denied haven’t received the letter to know the reason but do you think my green card application is going to be denied? A short background story 2 interviews 1 home visit application been pending for 3 years

I got approval for vawa 2020 june but still I have not received any updates on my i485.

My lawyer said to wait but I can’t wait any longer
That is way to frustrating
I spoke to L2 officer but she saw same online update so suggest to write letter to Vermont

Been waiting from 2018

Can you guys tell me anything that you have done to help getting some updates

I need to go to my country, I don’t care at this moment whatever decision they make it is fine for me

If you are a Seattle marriage based I485 applicant, don't lose hope. My priority date is April 2020. I had my interview today and my green card was approved. Big thanks to this community for sharing their experiences.

Hi peeps!! Any Brooklyn filer in the group who did interview early may 2021 and haven’t reviewed any decision, case still showing interview scheduled, did service request only hearing case in in waiting time… frustrated much . Any information will help. Thanks in advance

14 Apr 2021: I-140 Approved

9 July 2021: Filed AOS, EAD and AP

18 July 2021: Received receipts by mail. Receipt Numbers received with MSC*****

31 July 2021: Received Biometrics Appointment for 8/23

23 Aug 2021: Attended biometrics

25 Sep 2021: I-485, I-765 Status changed to "Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken". No update to I-765 and I-131 after this.

02 Nov 2021: i485J - Receipt Notice Fee Waived notice received by mail

04 Dec 2021: I-485 Status changed to “Request for Initial Evidence Was Sent”

20 Dec 2021: Received I-485 RFE for I-693 medicals by mail

21 Dec 2021: Sent RFE response via USPS Express Priority mail

23 Dec 2021: USPS Delivered RFE response to PO Box

29 Dec 2021: I-485 Status changed to "Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received"

30 Dec 2021: I-485 Status changed to "Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken"

30 Dec 2021: I-485 Status changed to "New Card Is Being Produced"

03 Jan 2022: I-485 Status changed to "Case Was Approved"

05 Jan 2022: I-485 Status changed to "Card Was Mailed To Me"

06 Jan 2022: I-485 Status changed to "Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service"

11 Jan 2022: Received the card in mail!
