Interview Experience - Green Card through marriage
Hi,

I'd like to share our experience with the interview because it was quite unlike anything we'd read on here. We expected an amicable encounter, and this one wasn't, really. The officer only asked questions for things that were already on our form, verifying, I suppose. No questions about our marriage/relationship really. At the beginning, she asked if I was a citizen by birth, and asked to see my naturalization certificate (so take it, even if your passport proves citizenship!). She asked both of us for ID's and then made a big deal that my husband's learner's permit was not from the state we're in. She said we don't have evidence that he lives in the state with me. She asked questions about his residence in relation to his school, which is in another state, and in which he resided in part during the fall, but where he doesn't need to be anymore for either teaching or research (he's writing up his dissertation). She didn't seem to understand that this was possible, and insisted that we show evidence that he lived in state (she said a lease was not enough, as he could always sign that and leave). She wanted utility bills in his name. I mention this because I know none of the application materials ask for it, nor have any of the experiences I've read. We didn't have that, and we tried to show through credit card statements that he's been making purchases in state. She also was not satisfied with this, and proceeded to lecture us about how none of this is good enough to prove he's in state.

We showed up with all the things in the checklist that came with the interview notice, but instead of asking for specific things (sometimes she did, like for my naturalization certificate), she said (after the exchange above), Ok what do you have to show me, what are all the things you brought to show me. We were a little confused because we had so many things, but showed her all the things we brought specifically to prove our relationship. We had an album of photos and instead of looking at them, she held it (closed) and asked us if this was for the record, if we were submitting these originals and didn't need them back.

She went on to ask questions about what I do, and to verify things like his parents' names. She asked him a bunch of those questions about criminal activities or convictions (things that were on the form).

Finally, she said she'll just do her due diligence and go over everything that night, but it doesn't seem there would be a problem. At this point I suppose she softened a bit, and said that we can check the status online and that the card could take about 2 weeks in the mail.

The next day (although our login was suddenly locked), our case status was updated that the card was being produced. We couldn't help wondering why she couldn't just decide at the interview, and let us have our pictures back. But ultimately we were very grateful.

After waiting for over 5 months, i have become US resident :)
I (F1 student) and my wife (US citizen) just had an interview in May 6th, 2015 at 2:15pm in downtown San Dego, CA.
- First, it's my timeline
11/28/14: Sent documents to USCIS Chicago
12/02/14: USCIS received
01/05/15: biometric
02/21/15: EAD in hand
04/01/15: Interview notice
05/06/15: Interview day
05/07/15: On May 7, 2015, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSC **** **** **, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, ............................
- Second, Our interview didn't look like an interview what i used to think before. It was just a conversation between 24-year-old couple and fifty-year-old IO, who was so kind, nice and "easy" man. Here are some questions that he asked us:
1/ Can you show me your IDs? ( My wife had it but i didn't have it, though i had applied it for 8 months ago)
I showed my Driver License temporary as well as my Work permit, but what he need was the card with my photo on it. So, he asked if i had IDs at school. Unlucky, i didn't have it either. Finally, i just gave him my I-20 which proved I was still a student.
2/ He checked so quickly my information (name, date of birth, address, and Yes/No question)
3/ Asked to see our marriage certificate, my wife's citizen license
4/ How, when, where did you guys meet?
5/ How did you guys communicate after that?
6/ Are you guys living like a couple or with other people? If with others, who are they? what do they do?
7/ He wondered if my wife has met my parents?
8/ What does my parent do right now?
9/ Where was the ceremony's place?
10/ He did ask to be seen my photo album, took 3 pictures out and we had a funny talk about my wife's car ( he said it looked like a Bug and drew it on paper)
11/ Asked if we had some joint documents (health, car, life insurance) except some document we had submitted him before (bank account, property certificate, agreement contract). We just gave him our car insurance's paper and explained why we didn't our health insurance at the same company.
After all, he explained about the remove of 2 year green card and we signed in the 216 section paper. " My computer has some problems right now, so i can't update your result today. I will do it tomorrow or the next following day. You guys will be given the green card within 10-14 days"- he told that.
And finally, We were done! He asked if we had some thing to speak out. We just requested him where he was from. He was from Philippines. From yesterday until now on, i will love Philippines so much

April 2015 (I130, I485, I765)
hi I would like to share my experience so far with this process. I'm a US citizen petitioning my wife and stepdaughter (minor currently 14yo), we live in Maryland so were are specting to deal with the Baltimore office. they entered the US 4 years ago with a tourist visa decided to stay in the country and let the visa expired. I met my wife 3 years ago and we got married after a 2 years relationship we got married in the Maryland December 2013 we used a immigration specialist to fill up all paperwork since my wife was afraid that I could mess something up in the applications I still a little salty about it since we ended up paying $800.00 just to fill up the applications and they didn't even did the E-notifications page and my case numbers don't work at all in the USCIS case status so im stuck by just checking the mail everyday but well after that here is my timeline so far:
April 2nd 2015.....package sent
April 10th 2015.....check were cashed
April 17nd 2015....received a receipt for each applications 6 total
April 21st 2015..... received a biometrics appointment for both wife and daughter same day same time
May 05th 2015.......when for biometrics in Wheaton MD at 8am we were the first took 15 minutes not like the time I when for my moms citizenship biometrics took 4 hours

Anyone known how slow is Baltimore processing this applications these days? I say slow because when my mom did her citizenship paperwork it took 11 months VS my friend that lives in Virginia she did it through the office in Alexandria VA and it took her a total of 1 month and 22 days to became a citizen.

Sharing My Milestone for Green Card Application
I entered here in the US July 2014 specifically In New York on a B2 Tourist Visa and I met my husband same month while having vacation. We started dating and when my 6 months allowed to stay in the US about to expired he proposed to me and and we got married Nov 2014. Here are the milestone of my application.

Jan 5, 2015 - Sent the application (i-485, i130, i-765) to Chicago Facilities
Jan 26, 2015 - Got e-mail and text notification that the 3 application were received.
January 30, 2015 - Received mail for Biometrics Schedule on Feb 19, 2015 for i-485 and i-765 application
Feb 10, 2015 - Received mail saying that I didn't submit i-693 known as (Medical Examination) and the instructions said, I need to submit the said form (i-639) and wait for their next instructions where to send if I don't have an interview appointment or I will bring the said form on the day of our interview appointment.
Feb 19, 2015 - Biometrics done.
March 4, 2015 - Change status for Card Production of my EAD (i-765)
March 13, 2015 - Received EAD Card and a week after I received my EAD I was hired and currently workiing.

Currently, my case status for i-485 and i-130 is still on case received status dated January 26, 2015 and I'm still waiting for the next instructions whether to send the i-693 form or for an interview appointment.

I hope someone will share the same process like me. I'm under MSC prefix too which i believe in Lee's Summit Missouri facilities.

Thanks.

Adjustment of my status.
Well, I can say my adjustment of status was not quite easy due to the fact that it took me 8 months to receive my card, I've changed my mind and decided to process the case in US as I am a tourist visa holder.

August 2014-- USCIS received I-485.
September 2014-- USCIS approved I-130 which my spouse filed on my behalf.
September 2014-- Biometrics were taken.
At the end of September 2014-- RFE is received and the evidences were sent on the next day.
November 2014-- Interview was conducted at USCIS-Charleston.
April 2015--- Approval notice received.
Yesterday, new card was in the mail box!
it was '' Ouf ! '''
All I can say is patience should be your mantra.

Good luck everyone!
