Alsmost a year now
Hi!
I came to USA with my wife in 2012, she is american citizen, we decided to get married and we did in March 2013, we did not have the money to file the documents so we saved money while I worked freelance online doing gigs, so after a year when we collected the money we filed the documents with an attorneys help, in March 15 2014, we submitted all the requested documents and did all the bio-metrics.

In July 15 we had the interview, where the officer requested more evidence of our marriage, we had a deadline of 3 months, so we collected everything, even bills of restaurants, flowers, every single picture we had, all the bank statements from the last 5 years, all the letters from all the friends, and we sent it by 10 of September 2014.

We haven't hear anything back, we submitted an inquiry a month ago, but they say that they still don't know how longer will it take. So today I am worried, I have my work permit, but most of the excuses say when they interview me is "Can you call us back when you get your Greencard?", also, my grandfather died last September, and I could not travel back to say good bye.

Anybody here knows what I could do? can I request other interview or if my lawyer should do something?

Positive I-485 experience to share
I wanted to share my experience applying for the I-485 for my husband. I am a US citizen and he was born in Europe. We have been together for almost 2 years now. Here is the timeline we experienced:

February 2014 - Married
June 2014 - Filed all documents to include (I-130, I-485, G325A, and I-765); we also included medical affidavit, shot records, passport photos, birth certificates, and any other relevant documents from his country and to prove my birth in the United States. I waited to send the affidavit of support until USCIS asked for it as my employer had not yet documented my raise in payment at the time we sent out the application.
July 2014 - We received an appointment for biometrics (fingerprinting) and I also received a letter to provide financial documentation (as we had already anticipated). I quickly mailed several pay stubs and most recent tax return and also printed their requirements for support and highlighted the portion where my income matched what was required,
August 2014 - My husband was fingerprinted at USCIS office, and about a week later received his Employment Authorization Card.
October 2014 - We received a notice that our interview would be conducted in the beginning of December 2014.
December 2014 - We arrived to the interview only to learn that it was canceled as the investigator had not received our file yet.
December 2014 - A new interview date was scheduled for the end of January 2015.
January 2015 - We received another notice for a different interview date at the end of January 2015.
January 26 - Interview conducted
January 28 - USCIS updated case status online to "approved"
January 30 - We received a letter for him that is I485 and I130 was approved and "welcome to the US"
February 2 - Permanent Resident Card received in the mail.

Interview: The interview itself was about 15 to 20 minutes. I think that had to do with how prepared I was with documentation and pictures. The investigator did not seem to be in a very good mood and did not ask many questions at all. She asked when we met, and asked us questions for the G325A that my husband and I filled out in the initial application. She asked for my husband's paystubs at which point I also offered all other supporting documents which included: tax return that we filed together, about 30 pictures from the past 2 years, our car title showing that we are both co-owners, auto insurance, life insurance, lease, rental receipts with both our names from the past year. After she quickly reviewed the documents she kept about 5 pictures and all of the documents that I provided as proof. Then she escorted us to the door. Our appointment was at 9am and we were in the car and heading home by 9:20am.

Hope this helps everyone.

Would love some input!!!
Wanted some input on experience dealing with USCIS on Adjustment of Status interview

Thing is I got arrested back in 2013 my senior year in college for Domestic Violence( female roommate was pissed about me not wanting a relationship) but all the charges were dropped against me.

Anyway, I meet my wife initially in the fall of 2011 through her cousin and at the time we were only friends. The relationship didn't turn romantic until the summer of 2013 after all the BS that happen to me ended, I ended up moving in with her and her parents and then we later got married April 2014, filed with USCIS in May and I've supplied them with all the necessary documents, fingerprints, medical and including a copy of my arrest report and she also has 3 boys. I then got a job offer in a different state at the end of July 2014 which i took, few weeks after that uscis sent out a letter for our interview in Aug, which i called for it to be reschedule due to me not being able to make it and my wife kids had a doctors appointment.

Two months later they sent a letter of rejection stating that i neglected to attend my interview, so then I got a lawyer to look at my case and she was able to reopen my case due to an error on there part. My lawyer also requested for the case to be moved from Cincinnati to Phoenix.

USCIS granted the change in venue also with a change in address since I was in Phoenix now, Funny thing is after they did this they sent a letter to my old address stating that I have an interview in Cincinnati the following week...

So going into the interview I presented the following documents:

1 Dental Insurance for the family
2 Life Insurance my wife as beneficary
3 Health Insurance for the whole family
4 Utility bill both names on it
5 W2( stating being married)
6 Arrest report (sent this in with my I-485) apparently it wasn't notarized which i see now was my dumb mistake
7 Bank statements (4months worth) and bank letter when it was open
8 Ticket stubs from back and forth (past 4 months)
9 Marriage Certificate (sent this in with my I-485)
10 Daycare letter stating i was a guardian of my wife youngest where I can pick him up from school
11 Letter from a college friend stating that he knew me and my wife (sent this in with my I-485)
12 Offer letter from the company that I currently work at
13 My last two pay stubs

The interview I think couldn't of gone any better, but the problem is the arrest report I submitted wasn't notarized so due to that the USCIS officer told me to get a new one and get it notarized which means my interview was incomplete, but the letter that she give me only stated that I needed to bring that in. Which I did in like an hour and brought it back in.......

So my question due you think that will hinder me in anyway???

I-130 withdraw and my spouse wants to refile
My wife (US citizen) and I filed i-130, I-485, I-765, I-131 on Dec. 5th 2014. I got the fingerprint done about a month later and i also received a RFE to add a sponsor because her income were not sufficient. But Early in January we got into a big argument and she sent a letter to withdraw her petition ( i-130). I checked my status online last week and my application is denied because she withdraw the petition. I confronted her about the situation, she said she did it because she was angry and mad at me because i direspected her. She confessed that she did it purely because she was upset. she knows that we are in love, we met in college and have lived together since. In the letter she sent to the USCIS she said that she believes i married her for the purpose of obtaining a greencard, which is not true ans she know it. She is sorry about it, we are in good terms and we are about to refile concurrently. My question is:
1 - Does she have to write a letter to explain the reason why she withdrew her first petition and send it with the new application?
2- what are the risk we get denied?

Kind of confused about proofs of GC interview!!
My wife (U.S citizen) and I ( F1 student visa) got married on November 14th 2014 after 4.5 years of knowing each other. We filled all of documents and send it to USCIS on November 28th, 2014. I just did fingerprint on January 5th and have been waiting for EAD, SSN as well as the notice of interview. I am not scared of these questions that they will ask about her and vice versa. We are nervous about the proofs. We haven't too many proofs like the other couples. Here there are these documents we have:
1/ Joint bank account at Wells fargo
2/ I put my wife's name on my own car's title
3/ Contract of rental agreement (300$-pay by cash)
4/ Waiting for EAD to apply for SSN and then my wife will add my name on her tax return.
5/ Photo album with 200-300 photos about wedding, party, family, dating, proposal...
6/ Cards for Xmas, New year, Birthday, dating...
7/ Receipt (restaurant, buy foods, drinks, supermarket, gas station...)
-No joint phone bills: because when i came to U.S (March 2014), i have had my sister signed 2 years of cellphone contract with Verizon. My wife signed with AT&T => Just wait until the contract ends up.
-No utility bills (gas, electricity, water) : share room with my sister's family, just pay 300$/month for all.
-No joint health insurance: I don't have SSN right now to buy Obama care with my wife. If i had, i couldn't buy it because it was expired. Wait for November 2015)
-No joint car insurance: i got 2 tickets from police. My case hasn't still be resolved in the courthouse. i believe surely that my car insurance will go up as mush as possible after these 2 tickets. I can't buy my car insurance with her.
-No joint credit card
-No life insurance
Is it possible for us to get GC??? Thank you so much

green card through marriage
May 19th 2014 - filed i485, i130, i765, medical exam, affidavit of support, pictures, joint accounts, joint lease, checks for each form, all in one package mailed to USCIS Chicago.

June 2nd 2014 checks were cashed by USCIS

June 6th 2014 - received I-797 with biometrics appointment set for June 23rd 2014

June 10 6th 2014 - received I-797, one for each, i485, i130 and i765

June 23rd 2014 - biometrics done, picture taken

Nov 12th - called them to ask status as I was expecting at least a permit to work within 3 months and more than 5 months have gone by.

Dec 1st 2014 - USCIS sent me a letter with request for evidence. A birth certificate with translation from Portuguese to English. I had originally sent a marriage certificate with a divorce note in it which is what Brazilians have available after getting married. The original birth certificate is retained by the government to prevent fraud, like people get married again and again... But that was long ago and as I just found out that nowadays in Brazil the birth certificate is available again and I got a new copy and mailed it to USCIS.

Dec 18th 2014 - Mailed the required evidence (birth certificate) with translation and translation certificate to USCIS

Dec 30th 2014 - got an email from USCIS stating they are again working on my case and I should have a decision by Feb 28th 2015, unless an interview or other evidences are needed.

So I am waiting longer than some people I see here, but not as long as some other people.
My worries are that soon after I filed all the forms, I started to check the status online, and I see that the i485 was sent from Chicago to Nebraska office for processing. But why just the i485? I filed i485 together with i130. And the recent request for evidence when they asked me for a birth certificate came form yet another office, the US Dep of Home Land Security in Lee's Summit, MO, that is now handling the i485 (adjustment of status). Again, if they are not looking into the whole picture, that I am married to a US citizen for over two years and have filed a i130 and many other forms as advised by the USCIS web site, I may be denied the adjustment of status. Really worried. should I have sent them a letter together with my birth certificate to ask about this concern, or should I still do it?
