My journey is Over!! Employment based (EB2-NIW Self-petition)
I have been reading people’s experiences here for the last 2.5 yrs. I have been secretly cheering everyone on and happy for everyone’s successful GC journeys because I understand how much patience, money, frustration, hope, and anxiety we go through to get to the finish line. My journey has finally and successfully come to an end. The tips I got here were invaluable. Others’ experiences have kept me sane and hopeful. As such, I am sharing my own GC timeline. I hope this also helps you keep hope alive. I wish you good luck and success with your case :)

I-485 was denied. Can i refile?
Hello All,

I am USC doing a paper for my spouse and my stepdaughter (7yrs.)

I-485 of my stepkid was denied because i messed up my paper work (i didn't file the I-130 with I-485 on behalf of her name). My spouse's I-485 still pending.

I got an letter from Uscis. They gave 33 days for my stepdaughter to leave.

I refile and submitted already yesterday. But i don't know what going on.

I am so worrying about removal processing.

Are there many peoples have the same situation?

Can you share your cases and the results of you case for me to learn.

I do appreciate for any advices from you.

Thank you.

Parents Green card application Question
Hi All,

I have a question regarding my parents Green card and below is my situation.

1. I am currently a GC holder and I expect to get citizenship by 2025.
2. I will be applying for my parents(They will be 72/67 years old by then) GC once/If I get US citizenship.
3. They have B2 visitor's visa until 2016 Oct.
4. If they travel to US after my citizenship on B2 visa and I apply for their green card. Can they stay until the decision comes or will they have to travel back?
5. Has anyone gone through the process for parents? I will really appreciate your help. I want to spend as much time with my parents as I can and hence I want to ensure I plan accordingly for that.
Any guidance will be really appreciated. Thanks!

Conditional GC in hand (11 months)
Hello all,

I have been a silent reader and I want to share my experience to give hope. I originally arrived on G-1 visa in 2015 which is not very common on here.
I got married to US citizen spouse via zoom - Sep 14 2020

PD: Nov 2, 2020 : filed I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-944, I-864, I-693 (I-566 & I-539 for my visa type)

Nov 29, 2020 : receipt notice via text message
Mar 8, 2021 : RFE for biometric birth certificate & new I-864
Apr 15, 2021: Responded to RFE
Aug 18, 2021: Biometrics appt in Queens
Aug 20, 2021: called to request expedite for EAD & AP
Sep 18, 2021: New card is being produced
Sep 24, 2021: EAD combo card in hand
Oct 21, 2021: Interview day @ federal plaza NY (new card being produced right when we left building)
Oct 29, 2021: Conditional Green Card In Hand!!!!

The interview was pretty chill. I filed everything by myself no lawyer. I also had divorce in July 2020. I'll probably make another post about the interview day if enough people ask for it.

I wish everyone the best and stay motivated!!

Brooklyn filer, PD August 2020. Timeline and interview questions.
Hi all, I would like to share my timeline for a marriage-based GC as well as interview questions.

I-485. Family-based, married to a US citizen.

PD: August 28, 2020
RFE request: October 13, 2020
Biometrics Appointment: December 21, 2020
EAD and AP produced: March 11, 2021
Interview Scheduled (Brooklyn Office): September 16, 2021.
Interview date: October 18, 2021
Case was approved: October 18, 2021
Card was mailed to me: October 20, 2021
Card was picked up by USPS: October 21, 2021
Card was delivered: October 23, 2021.

We hired an attorney who helped with the whole process. We had 2 packages of evidence. One package was submitted together with the I485 Application in 2020 The second package with updated pieces of evidence we brought to the interview (the attorney printed it and organized it for the USCIS officer). We had joint Tax returns, a letter of occupancy with our names from the landlord, Joint utility bills, Bills for parking, 4 letters from friends+ their IDs, 15 pictures with friends and relatives with descriptions.

Our attorney recommended we dressed officially. We were in business suits.

Questions during the interview in the Brooklyn Field Office:
- What are your husband's full name and date of birth?
- What is your husband's occupation?
- What is your occupation?
- What are your wife's full name and date of birth?
- What is your wife's occupation?
- Where did you meet? (we met in a different state)
- What did you do there?
- What city did you live in when you met?
- Is this city located in XYZ neighborhood?
- Do you have children together?
- Did you file taxes together?
- (to my husband) Why do you have an ID from a different state?

The interview took maybe 20 minutes. The officer was very polite and friendly. The officer said that we will be hearing good news from USCIS in 4-6 weeks. However, we receive a notification about the approval 30 min later. 5 days later I received my Green Card.

The whole process took 15 months in NYC. The attorney was a big help for us. He did a great job filling out our papers, organizing evidence, preparing us for the interview, and couching along the whole process. If you can afford an attorney, don't even hesitate to hire one. There is no room for mistakes in the immigration process.

Good luck to everyone with the Green Card process!
