Review: Just like the outbound flight, this was an excellent experience in all aspects. Service was excellent. Only problem with this flight was that Wi-Fi was not working. Everyone tried for a long time and finally the pilot announced that they were having technical difficulty.

Review: It was very good and smooth experience overall. As I had no bags to check, I simply checked in online and showed the mobile boarding pass. I have TSA Pre which made going through security fast and easy. Boarding was easy. Seats were good. Food served was good as well. They had good vegetarian choice. Overall, an excellent experience and I would recommend everyone.

Review: Again, there was only one full service agent at the airport for American Airlines for those who wanted to have any questions answered. I wanted to see if there were any earlier flights available as I had ample time before my scheduled departure time. I waited in line for a long time and I was told there were no seats available in any earlier flight, as expected. All of their planes are always full and routinely overbooked. Only worth mentioning thing about this specific trip was that I spotted Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor (Bollywood celebrities, in case someone does not know) at the Tampa airport while waiting at the gate.

Review: It was an OK experience. However, there was nothing unexpected really. Now a days, they really really want everyone to use the self-service kiosks for checking in. If you have any questions or any complications, you need to wait in a long line for the agent to be available and usually there is only one or max two people handling all the customers for the entire airline. As earlier, they still charged me $25 for my checked in bag, even though I have AA Advantage Platinum Visa Card from Citibank which allows up to 4 checked in bags free. Both American Airlines and Citibank have been blaming each other for their fault. Each party is asking the other party to contact. I have opened a case with manager at Citibank. Lets see what happens. In last month, I have paid $250 in checked bags fee that I am not supposed to pay. I am not sure what is wrong and where. They don't provide any food but just one beverage like soda. That is settled and nothing new about it. My baggage arrived promptly at the destination.

Review: We took this flight while traveling back home from Hawaii to Dallas. Therefore, we didn't have any experience with the security, ground service, check in etc. during this flight. We experienced some of the same issues that we have in the past. - Full flight - Too many people bringing too much carry on bags and not enough overhead bin storage - Overbooked flight and asking for volunteers - Punishing those who had lite carry on to accommodate those who have too much carry ons - No food service beyond beverages This flight was very bumpy throughout the journey and at times, it was very scary. Once landed, we got our luggage on time.

Review: We arrived at around 5 AM to the airport to catch the early morning flight to travel HNL - LAX - DFW. When we got to the airport, it was not clear where the American Airline counters were. However, before we could check in the bags, we were told that we had to go through USDA inspection for any food, fruits, vegetables etc. in our bags before we could head to the US mainland. That's fine. We went through that and they put green color stickers on our bags indicating the inspection passed. Once we finally found the American Airlines counter, and waited in line to submit our checked bags, when our turn came, AA agent told me they need blue color sticker instead from USDA. I replied that USDA is a government agency and would be doing the same inspection irrespective of which airline I am flying. She gave me a rude look and said "This is American Airlines. We are different. YOU NEED BLLLLUEEEE sticker. OK? Go THEEERREE. and get them". Therefore, we had to go out of that line and join another line all over again for USDA inspection again and finally we got the blue sticker. Finally, we submitted our bags. The security lines were long even at that early in the day. Even though I am TSA Pre, somehow, my kids didn't get TSA Pre. Therefore, rest of my family had to go through a longer line. Once we reached the gate, they were making constant announcements that they had overbooked the flight and were looking for volunteers to go on a later flight. We didn't have any carry on suit case type bags but only small bags like computer bag, food bag etc. Once we got to the gate and it was a boarding time, incidentally, I and my kids boarded first and I didn't see my wife coming into the aircraft for a long time. Once she made it, she told me that as she was carrying one ladies purse, one food bag, another small bag that our beach clothes from yesterday, they wouldn't allow her to board. But my kids were not carrying anything in their hands. They said three pieces are not allowed. Therefore, she just put her purse in another bag. But at that time, they would not allow her to board and told that she had to board at the end. On the other hand, we saw that they had somehow allowed people carrying big boxes, big carry on suit case and also another bag and they didn't seem to have any problem with. And in spite of having one small carry on bag per passenger, they wanted us to put that under our seat so that they could accommodate people bringing large carry on bags. Seriously? You want to punish those who travel lite to accommodate those abuse the system and push the limits? In any case, the overhead storage was not enough as so many people brought so much, they had to continuously ask people to check their bags in. In flight was service was bare minimum just like most other times where they serve only beverages. There was really no inflight entertainment other than they playing random small clips of different things on overhead TVs.

Review: Even when booking around 3 months in advance, there was no first class available. However, after boarding the flight, I realized that it would not have been worthwhile to fly first class anyway because the first class seats were too bad for 9 hour flight. Right from the time we reached the airport, the experience was terrible. Due to the start of the spring break, the rush was terrible. There were literally thousands of people waiting to check in and there was hardly any AA staff available to help. Bunch of AA staff was directing everyone to check in with the automatic kiosks which we could do with no problem but all 4 members of our family got the seats assigned in 4 different rows. And they told me that if I want to make any changes to the seat assignments, I would have to seek an agent for full service, which were hardly two people for thousands of customers. I could not have waited for few hours just to miss our flight. Therefore, we decided to use the automated kiosks and take different seats anyway. The next problem was the charge for the bags. We had 4 bags but as we had paid for the tickets with American Advantage Citibank Credit Card, one bag per person was supposed to be free. But it asked me for $100. Again, the same answer. Go to full service desk, which would be 2-3 hours wait easily which we didn't have. Therefore, I paid $100 anyway. Even to drop off the bags, there was a huge line again. And at every point, we were worried about missing the flight. Instead of so many people having so many difficulties with self check in, and those AA agents just wandering around directing people to use automated kiosk, why don't they just go to the desk and start helping people? The next was the security line. I am TSA Pre, but my wife isn't. Therefore, she had to go through a much longer line (not AA's fault here.) Once we reached the gate, we asked the agent at the gate whether she could get any seats together, at least for the children. She said that she can arrange two seats together. However, once we got into the flight, we realized that they were the last row seats with no room to recline and next to the toilet. It would have been better not to take those seats had she told about it. The seat heights were very low compared to the normal economy class seats and there was no way you could put your computer and open the screen completely and rest on the tray table. There was literally no space between rows. And the fellow passengers sitting next to us told the same thing that they have not seen so pathetic before. It is an almost nine hour flight and they absolutely don’t serve any food. They served some beverages. They claim to have to some food available for purchase but it is nothing more than a couple of things like chips, cookies etc. It is completely disgusting. How are people supposed to be in such a long flight and no food? Fortunately, we had brought lunch with us and we were OK. I heard the flight attendants simply gathering towards the back of the aircraft and just chatting for hours, instead of serving anything to the passengers beyond the initial round of beverages. American Airlines charges so much money for their flights, does not provide any service of checked luggage or food, charges for everything such as checked baggage or for food, and they are always full. And still they claim that they are in loss. I don’t understand the logic behind it.

Review: When I reached the check in counters, there was really no line in first class and with the flagship check in, I cleared the security clearance in less than 5 minutes. Once I reached the gate, the boarding was announced for first class passengers. When I got into the flight, it was the same or similar plane that I had traveled from DFW to LAX few days ago. Very big first class compartment for a domestic flight, just like the long haul international flight. This aircraft has the best first class I have ever been in U.S. domestic airline. There was ample overhead bin space to store the carry on bag. They had the DC charger in every seat. I wasn't carrying any gadget to charge with DC charge. I wish they had just the regular AC type charger that we have in the home or office. In first class, they serve lunch. However, only bad thing in this flight is that even if you request well in advance, they can't accommodate any vegetarian lunch. The only choices were beef and chicken that I can't eat. Therefore, instead of waiting to get lunch served, as soon as the flight took off, I just reclined the seat completely (which reclines around 160 degrees) and went to sleep. I had a very good sleep and got up around 15 minutes before landing in DFW. Before landing, they arrived the baggage claim information which was gate D16. It was easy find the baggage claim location. Bags arrived rather quickly and I was able to get out of the airport soon.

Review: I had a very smooth experience. I had checked in online but could not check in the bag. Arrived in taxi to the airport. There was hardly any line. Checked in the bag with the counter. As I am TSA Pre, there was really no line. It is really nice not to remove the laptop, toiletries, shoes etc. and just walk past through the security check. Boarding process was smooth. There was ample carry on luggage storage. The seats are the best I have ever seen in domestic first class. They are just like long haul flight to Europe and India. You can recline almost flat (up to I think 160 degrees). There are 3-4 configurations to choose from. Even though the flight is only 3.5 hours, you can really sleep well if you want to or need to. Lunch was served to everyone in nice plates. However, the only choices were beef salad and chicken item. As I am vegetarian, I could not eat either of them. However, as I had eaten well before boarding the flight, there was no issue. I was able to sleep for almost 2.5 hours. There was no turbulence or any other issues. The flight was on time. Before landing, there were clear instructions on where to go for baggage claim. Just went to baggage claim 3 and collected the bags. It was easy to get the taxi and head to the destination. Overall, very nice experience.
