Department of State Announces Nonimmigrant Visa Fee Increases

In a press release from March 28, 2023, the US Department of State announced that certain nonimmigrant visa application (NIV) processing fees and Border Crossing Card fees will increase on May 30, 2023. These increases include visas for visitors, international students, exchange visitors, temporary workers, and treaty investors.

According to the Department of State, these fees are based upon the actual cost of providing nonimmigrant visa application services, and are being adjusted after conducting a study using Activity-Based Costing methodology.

Prior to this increase, the fees for most non-petition based NIVs were last changed in 2012, and certain others were last changed in 2014.
