Hi. I applied for my fiance visa in London, I am originally from South America but I met my boyfriend in London, as I was based in the Uk I had to do all the process there.
We got a lawyer from California, who did help a lot in filling the forms, assessing each step and clarifying information to us.
We started our process on November 2015, my boyfriend at that time had to get lots of form from his work, we had to provide a lot of documents, so we started organizing all the documents.
I will suggest to you to read this website and https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/fiance-k-1.html
as I did,so you will have step by step.
A couple of weeks later I got a letter from the US embassy in London that the petition from my fiance has been approved (Form I -29) so the next step was get an appointment and get ready more documents.
-Completed Form DS-160,
A passport valid for travel.
Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse.
Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16
Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)
Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested from my fiance)
Two (2) 2x2 photographs.
Evidence of relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e)
Payment of fees to the embassy

I applied online to get my appointment, meanwhile I was doing my medical check and the most difficult one was to get my police certificate, as some countries have different kind of police certificate and I had to ask to a family member as I don't have parents to do all that paper work in my country to get 2 different docs. for one of those I needed a letter from the embassy from my country and in my country had to be legalized to do the process, was painful that part.
My interview was on February, I had all my documents ready 2 weeks before, the medical check was easy and is a normal check, do not worry or stress, the staff in London are very professional and it was quick; I didn't have my vaccination card but in a blood test (Private)they can tell you which vaccination you already had so I showed in the medical exam my card with all the information. They said that they will send in a closed envelope to the embassy.
Interview at 8 am in the USA embassy from London

I arrived to the embassy 50 min before,7:10 am and the queue was long, as I had a letter from them with me they let me go in quick, I went trough the security, they check your belongings and they let you go in, in the door at the reception they will give you a ticket, that is the number you have to wait to see on the screen. At the embassy there is coffee and snacks so you can buy inside. I wasn't waiting long until they call my number, so I showed to the lady some documents, she sent me to seat and I will be called again, I was called after very long 10:45, then I gave some documents in another window, I got my medical results and a CD with my x ray, she said I have to give this envelope on July 2016 in the adjustment of my status, then she sent me to seat again and wait, 11:05 my number again on the screen and my interview, easy questions and some pictures, then was approved. ( How we met, what he was doing here, if I traveled to the USA, times we met , etc)

I flew to the USA on 3rd of March, I was nervous and at the POE they did check my passport, I had to provide the envelope, and literally are all your documents but has to be sealed, do not open. They officer has to open there. He didn't ask me much just why I was coming and said welcome to the US

I got married on 18 March, then we sent all the forms for the adjustment of my status on 18 of April I guess, and the certified copy from the marriage certificate took some week to be sent to home.
Few weeks after I got a letter for my finger print and picture
Then a letter to authorize me to work and few days later my card to work
Then some weeks later a letter for our interview.
Between all the letters you might get letters from them to let you know that your application is in process.

Today was our interview, and we were a bit nervous, but all went smoothly.
If is a true relationship you should be just fine, my husband and I watched few videos about questions on the day of your interview, and we asked questions each other, our attorney was also explaining us how it will be and Today finally was approved.
My husband and I we are so happy.

Dear Nathalie

All the forms and documents you need to have are in this website
https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/fiance-k-1.html

Regarding to the lawyer, my husband found one in his city in the USA: where ever you are look for immigration lawyer they will guide you and make all the process much easier, is worth at the end.
I am assuming each firm will charge you according to your case and their experience, we can apply for the same visa but the price might differ as each case is different.

Wish you luck.

Ely
