Hi All,

I have sent my passport for the renewal to SFO Indian embassy on Dec 2,2018. I did not receive any update since then. It’s already been 43 days and still showing under process with CKGS. I emailed to ‘[email protected]’ and tried reach the Embassy number (?(415) 668-0662?/ ?(415) 668-0683?) manier times But there is no response to the call and emails.
Is there any process to expedite the process or to reach out to them.

Appreciate your help.

Thank you very much.

Mine reached embassy on Dec 20, 2018. I called their emergency line - (415) 483-6629. They have technical problems due to which passports are being printed in india and sent to sfo. If you have travel emergency, just call them. They are helpful.

Hi Saikat12002,

Thank you for your response.
I have my H1B extension to be applied by end of this month. Do they consider this as an emergency?

Also can we withdraw our application and send it to other state for renewal if they have technical

I don't think you can send it to other state for renewal. You can call the number and see if they can expedite your request. There is not much we can do in this scenario.

In my case, it is travel emergency. I called them on 14th Jan. They said that i will receive passport by next week. I called them today again. They said that the passport is printed.

Better give them a call before deciding to withdraw the passport.

I called to the number and they asked me to email to them which I already did and just wait them to respond to the email.

Just to confirm '[email protected]' is this the email id they gave you?

Harika101     01/17/2019 18:09 PM

Yes, that’s the email.

Thank you! Please update if you get a reply.

I have applied for reissue on 8th Jan which is pretty recent. But as my previous passport was lost and I am going to apply for H1B I have planned my travel to go to India in mid-Feb to get my F1 visa stamped. Need to book an appointment early to get a suitable date. Pretty scared about how long it's gonna take for them to print the passport.

Will let you know if I get any update.

Hi Harika101,

Do you have any update from the embassy? I called them yesterday and got to know that finally, they have started printing the passports here.

Harika101     01/25/2019 17:09 PM

Received the passport yesterday finally.

saikat12002     01/22/2019 19:40 PM

i was in the same boat but ustraveldocs customer care came to my rescue. You can book your appointment using your current passport details. Once you receive the new passport, fill new DS-160, submit it and update the DS-160 number in ustraveldocs profile and get the printout of new appointment confirmation.

I did the same and it worked for me.

Mine is also stuck at embassy since Dec. They are saying same thing, passports are printing in India and they don't have any ETA.

Update on my case

Passport with embassy since Dec 20, 2018. Today got an update stating that Passport ‘Received’ at the CKGS application centre and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.

Hi saikat12002,

I was asked to mail them the details of my emergency on 17th Jan and on 18th I received a mail saying it will be delivered this week. Should I wait for the status to update or I have to follow up with them to get it done by this week?

saikat12002     01/22/2019 19:37 PM

In my case they mentioned in the mail (17th Jan) that passport has been printed in India and is on the way. I received it today (Jan 22). So if you have some buffer time for travel, wait till thursday morning for the status to change to "Passport in transit to CKGS". If it doesn't give them a call. AFAIK 26th Jan is holiday in consulate. If the status doesn't change till Thursday, then chances are very slim to receive the passport this week
