Advance Parole experience
Hi everyone,

I want to share my experience with advance parole as it might be helpful to someone. I came here on a B1/B2 visa and extended it for a few months. I got married to my USC boyfriend of two years 10 months after I came in (still in the visa). He started being abusive from the beginning but I had already filed for adjustment (May 2017) and had nowhere to go. I didn't apply for an Advance Parole because he didn't let me and also his lawyer told me that they never let people with advance parole back in (BIG LIE). I left him a year after we filed, in May 2018 and I only had my EAD by then. I then applied for I - 360 WAVA case and went to my I - 485 interview alone, with the I - 360 receipt, asking them to hold my I - 485 in abeyance and transfer it to the new case I - 360. In the meantime I applied for an advance parole just to have it and I was approved.

My grandma happened to be very sick so I went to my home country this month. I spent 9 days there and was super stressed out about coming back. Just because my case wasn't a simple I - 485 anymore and I had a lot of open processes and I was scared that will confuse the officers. I brought ALL the documents I had with me, even my FBI clearance just in case.

When I came back I told them about my Advance Parole and I gave them my passport. They took me to a room where I waited less than 10 mins. They just needed to confirm the documents as my surname had been hyphenated. Didn't ask me for any extra documents and I made it back in the US without any inconvenience.

I hope this helps!
