i am leavin gthis message here because i too had lot of doubt wether i needed transit visa while travelling through frankfurt
details
Currently in H1 visa that has expired in feb 2006, but had valid 797 that is extended for 3 years more. i am travelling to india in july , 16, 2006 from chicago to bombay via frankfurt. i have appointment at us consulate for re-stamping on 19 july, so apllied for transit visa to german embassy anyway as i did not want to risk being denied boarding then would miss the vias appointment at us consulate, however i got letter from german consulate that i do not need transit visa on way from us to india as i had valid 797(even though my H1 had expired), on he way back also i do not need transit visa as i would have valid he (re-stamped)
