Visa Stamping from Canada/ Mexico

I got my H1b issued in Singapore in 2014 as I was working in Singapore then . I never went out of the US since 2014. In 2018 I moved to a full time job on H1b and working with the same employer since then.

Can I go to Canada on Visitor Visa along with my family and get H1 B stamped .

Would it be a problem since I never went out of the country for 10 yrs and going to Canada to get stamped?

What's the current waiting time for an appointment (TCN) in Ottawa Canada?

221g Blue slip.

I had an interview on 02/22/2024 for my H1B in Ottawa and VO give me a Blue slip 221g and returned passport.

VO asked a couple of questions.
Current company name.
Job responsibilities
How many years on H1B
was on H1B before that
Where from I renew my passport
In which year you visited your home Country
Did I maintain my status
Then VO asked for the resume (I have a hard copy) and kept checking and later asked for the university details.

In the end, VO told me additional documents needed and gave me a Blue slip 221g. In the additional document, I need to email my resume only which I emailed.

Any idea how long it will take?

I have an upcoming H1B visa stamping appointment (in-person interview) in Canada on 26March2024. Anyone who has recently gotten their visa stamped from Canada after an in-person interview? What kind of documents should I carry to the interview?

I have Canada PR since 2022, in US on H1-B visa since Dec 2019. First stamping done in New Delhi, India. Came to Canada for renewal stamping. Here is my timeline -

Jan 16 - Interview at 10:00 am. Done in 1 minute. Interviewer asked basic questions like where do you work, how long have you been with the same employer, status in Canada. VO said visa is approved
Jan 17 - Status changed to approved at end of day.
Jan 18 - Documents dispatched, got courier email and tracking.
Jan 22 - Picked up documents from Toronto PO with Visa stamped.

Interview Date- 31 Jan 2024
DS-160 Ststus - Visa Approved.
 
Still waiting. The wait is long. Anyone in the same boat.

I have a Canada PR for over a year now. My H1B visa was expired in 2020 April (46 months ago). Do I qualify for Dropbox H1B stamping in Canada ? My last 2 H1B stampings done in home country without any issues.

Hello, I appeared for an in-person interview on January 22, 2024. My status on ceac website changed to APPROVED the same day i.e. January 22, 2024. However, since then I have no updates on the ceac website. Anyone else in a similar position or have maybe recently gone through this process for visa stamping in Canada?

Hello, I wanted to know major risks with going to Canada for H1B visa interview. I'm an Indian citizen working on H1B since 2015. I got my first H1B visa stamp in 2015 from India. First employer filed GC, and then with same employer, I got I140 approved around 2016/2017. Then in early 2023, I switched employers and now have a valid and approved I797 after new employer petitioned. My appointment in Canada is in early 2024. I have an expired F1, H1B stamped on old passport; both of which from US Consulates in India. This is my first time going to Canada on visitor visa for an H1B visa interview using my I797/DS160 with new employers details. No gaps in employment, no working on client site situation etcetera.

Any major risks of getting denial? Any important steps I need to keep in mind before the interview?

1. Nov 16th - Interview. Approved with 3 minute. Just simple questions. What do you do, where do you work and all. Status changed to Approved on the website
2. Nov 27th - Emailed embassy to ask for any update. Got an email that said you need to wait till you receive an email with a tracking number
3. Nov 28th - Status changed to Issued on the website. You won't get an email about that, you just need to keep checking. Got an email with a tracking number that my document has been picked up by the courier.
4. Nov 29th - Received 2 emails from Canada Post saying they received a package from the US Embassy
5. Nov 30th - Received another emails from Canada Post with a barcode that is it ready for pickup.

In all, it took 8 business days (excluding Thanksgiving Holiday). On their websites, it says it takes 5-10 business days so plan accordingly.
