Hello,

My mother’s date of birth is incorrect in her passport. When I compare it with my date of birth it’s only 12yrs gap but that’s not true. I realized this when I was filling DS-160.

There are only 2 options to correct it. 1. Get DOB certificate and 2. Cancel passport in the Court with correct evidence. She doesn’t have date of birth certificate and now we can’t get it because she is 50+. I spoke with few lawyers in HYD but they said they can’t do it.

Should I apply for visiting visa ? Any suggestions ?

I’m married and my husband has a GC. Will she get the visiting visa without any issues if my husband?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

My old passport (which has valid H1B) has my father’s name on last page as Doe John (Last Name First Name format). I recently got my passport renewed at Indian Consulate Chicago through CKGS and realized that his name on last page is interchanged to John Doe (First Name Last Name format), which is his legal name as per his passport records/ US visitor Visa etc.

Would this format interchange in his name (even though interchanged name is the correct version) create problems while I travel, specifically at CBP since I still have a valid H1B on the old passport?

Thanks for this great platform to clarify all questions.

I applied for change in DOB on May 22 2019. On CKGS website, it says average time 6 - 8 weeks. I am approaching to 8 weeks in next few days... I emailed Consulate General of India at Atlanta and they said we are waiting for clearance from RPO office Ahmadabad... I have following questions

1) How long I will be waiting ?
2) What does Clearance from RPO office mean? Is it police clearance ?
3) Any one had similar experience recently ?

Hi
I think the upgrade process is probably complete. I received the renewed passport in 7 days.
The timeline is as follows :
May 22nd - docs deemed incomplete as GC/DL are not self attested (not specified as per checklist, but apparently, even though these are notarized, these need to be self-attested.)
May 28th - replacement documents received by CKGS
May 29, 2019 - Wednesday 11:16 amApplication is 'Under Process' at Embassy for decision making.
May 29, 2019 - Wednesday 10:12 am Application is 'In Transit' to the Embassy.
May 29, 2019 - Wednesday 09:13 am Application is ‘Under Process’ at CKGS.
Jun 10, 2019 - Monday 12:47 pm Application 'Reviewed' by Embassy and ‘In Transit’ to CKGS Application Centre.
Jun 10, 2019 - Monday 12:53 pm Passport ‘Received’ at the CKGS application centre and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.
Jun 10, 2019 - Monday 03:01 pm Passport picked up by UPS. Your AWB Number is xxx
Jun 11, 2019 : Tuesday 4:30 pm - passport delivered.

Same dateline sequence for wife's passport as well.
Considering that June 5th the Embassy was closed, this was completed in 8 working days.

No follow up emails etc were needed.

Best of luck to all of you with your application

Hey guys:
I am applying for my wife's passport renewal in SF consulate. We have a approved Tatkal email and preparing the document/packet to send to CKGS. I have few questions if anyone has recent experience with tatkal in SF:

1. We are travelling to India in 25 days, hence the tatkal request was approved. What is the current tatkal processing times? Anyone has recent experience to share?

2. We are adding husband's name on the passport. We did check with the CKGS call center that this was a allowed request for tatkal, but again if anyone has recent experience to share?

3. If the application is rejected, I assume they return all the documents back to you? I am thinking worst case if its rejected, we can atleast get the returned passport in time, travel to india and then deal with the renewal when we return back. ( She has 6+ months valid passport at present)

4. Change of appearance. There is not much change in appearance, but ofcourse the usual aging. I assume we can click yes for change in appearance and hopefully no issues with tatkal?

I did followup with CKGS every week and Indian Embassy (passport services) on completions of 3 weeks for the updates. May 08, 2019 – Wednesday 10:04 AM
Application is 'In Transit' to the Embassy.

May 08, 2019 – Wednesday 09:45 AM
Application is ‘Under Process’ at CKGS.

Hi all,

I had applied for renewing my Indian passport from Indian Embassy in San Francisco earlier this month. I have been checking CKGS website for tracking and it has been over 2 weeks now that I haven't heard anything since it went under processing at consulate.

I remember reading about some delays in processing passport renewals at SF consulate. I was wondering if that is still an issue today. Anybody else in the same boat? I also have two emails to reach out to if I do not see any updates by next week.

Here is my timeline:
May 10, 2019 - Application is 'Under Process' at Consulate for decision making.
May 10, 2019 - Application is 'In Transit' to the Consulate.
May 09, 2019 - Application is ‘Under Process’ at CKGS.
May 09, 2019 - Application Verification is ‘Complete’. Processing of your application will continue.
May 09, 2019 - Application ‘Received’ by CKGS and 'Not Verified'.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I am in the processing of applying for renewing my Indian passport from Indian Embassy in Houston. I hold one old original passport, along with the current passport which is getting expired this oct 2019. My question: Do we have to mail my old original passport which was expired along with my current original passport which will be expiring this oct 19? or just mail my current original pp?Also how many photos should we send ( one to paste on application form) and the rest must be just put in envelope or stapled somewhere?Do we also have to mail doc checklist, if so where can i print it? I cant figure out the Nationality Verification form. I plan to only mail, my US residence notary, US visa notary, original pp, photocopy of 1st 5 and last 2 pages of current pp, aplication form. Is there anything else missing?
