I have attended H1B/H4 visa interview in chennai on 6th August 2019.

H1B - Interview questions

1. Who is your petetioner
2. How long you are working with end client
3. End Client location City and State
4. Which indian hotels located near to the City
5. Give me the end client letter
6. Give me the middle vendor letter
7. how much is the salary
8. Is this first H1B?
9. Do you know the rights?.
  VO: Handed over the right pamphlet and requested to read through it

H4 -
how long you are married?
how many children you had?

Finally golden words "You visa approved".

Both H4 and H1B in "ISSUED" status now

Hi,

I attended H1b stamping along with my dependents in the month of June 2019- New Delhi, got 221g blue slip by asking list of documents through provided email. Submitted all documents in PDF format after 1 month(2019 July end) and same day got acknowledgement from "NDBox, HLProcessing".

While checking status in https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/ website getting error "Invalid Application ID or Case Number."
Case number format like:- NWD20191234567
Please help me on this.

Ps:- DS-160 showing updated on stamping date.

Went for h1b stamping in Hyd. This is my sixth stamping in India. (last five stamping exercises were successful in Chennai & Hyd over the past 10+ years). Was eligible for dropbox in Hyd. FTE in US company.

7/15 - Dropbox at Hyd
7/18 - Passport returned via courier with white slip asking to attend interview.
8/6 - Attended interview (was out of Hyd on visit, so had couple of weeks of gap to respond),
         Fingerprints etc were taken; At counter, officer asked very basic questions and said my case would
         need additional processing and that i will receive email to fill a form. He didnt seem sure about
         reason and was was responding to whatever system flagged. He gave 221g white slip.
 8/6 - Received email same day to fill a DS-5535 form and submit it via email.
8/6 - Completed the form and emailed it back. Got autoresponse of receipt of email.

So, we wait.

Date attended : 6th August,2019

There were not many people attending the interview along with me. I was mentally prepared for some intense grilling :)

Following were the questions:
1. Is this your first H1b or renewal ?
2. What is your client's name ?
3. Location you are travelling to? Is this your client location or petitioners location
4. Show me the client letter.
5. Show me your LCA.
6. What is your designation ?
8. What is your salary ?
9. How long have you been working for this client ?
10. How long have you been working for the petitioner?
11. When is this project ending ?
12. Are you going to work for the same client after the project ?

After all these questions, the Visa was approved!! :)

Few tips/ observations :

1. Read your petition document thoroughly. Everything written there is questioned to see if you know basic details like your designation,salary, work location etc.

2. Answer to the point. Don't try to explain too much.

3. Don't club all your petition documents as a bundle. Separate the documents with markers so that you can pull out the exact document when the officer asks for it. In my case I had to dig through my bundle to pull out the LCA :)

4. I saw people in front of me in the queue getting rejected, approved, further processing needed etc.. Every case is unique. Just be confident, You will rock ! :)

I have submitted my passport via dropbox on July 25 and the status still shows application received.
This is for my H-1B and my prior stamping was also via dropbox. Hyderabad consulate.

Anyone had similar experience or know why it could be so long?

This forum has useful to get experience of H1B stamping. I attended H1B visa interview at Hyderabad consulate on 8/5/2019 and got 221g white slip and they retained my passport. My status currently shows "Administrative processing" since Aug 5th. I am full time employee with American Company.

Below questions Asked.

VO: How long have you been working with this employer?
me: 2 years
VO: What is your current designation?
me: Told my current designation
VO: What is your salary?
me: xxxx dollars per annum
VO: Are you working for client or direct?
me: Direct
VO: What is your highest level of education?
me: Masters in Computer Applications
VO: from which?
me: Told my university name( india)

after that VO gave me white 221g slip with no check boxes on it and said they need to do further processing and it takes few days. I asked again would it take few days? VO said yes.

Anybody has similar experience?

I am an H1B holder but will be laid off in about on Sept 9th, 2019. My first term of the H1B will expire on Sept 15th, 2019.  My wife is still an F1 student, but we changed her staus from H4 to F1 and her F1 got approved in May 2019, she did not go out of the country to get her F1 Visa stamped yet, so we are thinking about applying an F2 visa for me. 

1) Do I have a grace period of 60 days after Sept 9th to find a new employer who can transfer or file an H1B visa?

2) If I have a grace period, Can I file H1B to F2 Change of Status being on grace period(before a week of expiry of my 60 days grace period)?

3) If I do not have a grace period, I need to file a change of status being on H1B status(let's say a week before my layoff), would it be an ideal time?

3a) If I find an H1B job while my application is under processing, can my employer start the H1B application parallelly while I am waiting for my decision on F2?

3a.i) If my new H1B gets approved while my F2 is pending, do I need to go out of country and get the H1B stamped, or can I stay in the USA and start working for new H1B job, not sure if there is any way to revoke the F2 while it is in the pending state?

Has anyone attended visa interview with Canada PR visa stamp in their passport?
Does it raise any questions?

Hi Guys,

I wanted to share the H4 visa interview experience for my wife in Mumbai consulate. We are newly married and this is the first time she went for H4 stamping.

Interviewer did not ask for any documents during the interview and returned the passport with 221g green slip with the below option.

Submit the documents requested below, your passport and this letter at one of the visa application center.
Submit: correspondence

Not sure what does he mean by ‘correspondence’ document? Did anyone face similar situation before?

Appreciate if anyone can shed some light.

Hi -

dropped off my documents for H1B renewal (same employer, 3rd renewal) at Mumbai on Aug 1st.
the documents got delivered to the consulate on Aug 2nd. Status: Application Received
there has been no change in the status since Aug 2nd.

anyone else in a similar situation?
looks like typically drop box applications take 4-5 days to get processed. it's been 2 working days with no change in status for me. is this typical?
