B1 Visa Granted @ Chennai
Hi all,

I would like to share my experience with Chennai US Consulate today .

My interview was scheduled at 9.15AM, and i reached Consulate by 8.40AM, with 2,3 ppl waiting outsie,i too joined with them
Security guy checked my passport and Appointment letter after that another security check similar to airport one . u should not bring any electronic goods with u, if found anything need to be handed over to the scurity gate.
I had then redirected to a counter where an indian lady will place ur documents in the respective order and verifies the foto mainly. she asked to give left and right hand 4 fingers(except thumb) and 2 thumbs combinedly one impression in an electronis scanner/sensor
then i have been asked to wait in the queue for interview, at that time one youg girl was being interviewed by a charming american lady Consular, that girl had granted, after that a family had come for them too she granted the visa,

Next was my turn and i was bit nervous coz i thought she granted already 2 and she will reject mine
She asked me to come in front , the conversatoin goes as follows

    Consular : Hi sir, Gud morning,How r u ?
Me: Gud morning mam, im doing great, thnx.
Consular: Mr.ZZZ What is the purpose of ur visit?
Me : To attend business relationship sessions with the core stake holders of our accounting prouct
Consular: what would that discussion inclue
Me : it includes discussion on new features to be added in the product and system stuy on the problems in the existing version

Consular: How long r u working for this Company?
Me : i work for this company aroud 4 years
    Consular: Who is ur client?
    ME: YYYY Bank
Consular: Is ur company and client are a group entities
Me: (i didnt unerstand this q properly) and said , yes they are our client
Consular: She corrected me on this saying , NO sir technically are these 2 a group entities?
    ME : i said yes,
Consular: Are you going to get trained on any new things or ?
Me: No i'm planning to give training their users on the features of the prouct
Consular: she looked astonishingly ( u r going to trian them???? ) and typed something for about half a minute ,
Consular: All right i will issue a visa
    Me : Thanks!!!!

The key points which i noticed are
if u r going for a B1 plz be in complete formals with ties on, wear a suit if possible.
Be precise on what u say, answer should be clear, be strong in ur answers even if u r not upto
dont get nervous,be cool with charming look always.
enough preperation is must , Immihelp helped me a lot.

B1 Visa Approved
I got my B1 Visa approval yesterday. I have been reading up various experiences on immihelp and had been preparing accordingly.

My interview was scheduled at 8.15 AM, and I reached VFS at 7.15 AM. The lounge facilities are good and I would advice everyone to use it. We were transferred to the consulate at 8AM. VFS Lounge users are allowed to jump the normal queue and go in directly. I was inside the consulate by 8.20 AM. Fingerprinting done in 5 mins...and then the wait for the interview.

My number was called in around 10 mins.

Me: Good Morning.
VO: Good Morning, How are you doing?

Me: Fine, Thank You.

VO: Why are you going to the Unites States?
Me: To attend meetings at by Company Headquarters

VO: Oh.. You work for xxx Company, Which division do you handle?
Me: xxx

I tried to show him the invitation letter, he waved them away.

VO: How many employees do you have in India?
ME: xxx

VO: What products do you have?
Me: xxx

VO: How many years in Current company?
Me: 2 Years

VO: and before that?
Me: With xxx in Kolkata

VO: Oh. Are you Bengali? ( He asked me the question in Bengali, which caught me by surprise)
Me: No, But I understand the langauge.

All questions after this were in Bengali

VO: Are you married.
Me: Yes

VO: Since how long
Me: xx

VO: How many Kids?
Me: None

VO: Typing for some time.

VO: Your Visa is Granted. You will receive your passport in 3 days
Me: Thank You

VO: Have a great trip
Me: Thank You

I was out after that, didn't need to show a single document. I was out of the consulate by 9 AM. I got my passport today and found a 10 year Visa.

Some things which I adhered to.
1. I was in formals
2. I had a tie on. (Please do that if you are going for a Business Visa)

hay manikandan
your visa got rejected just because you said you have 1 month of experience in you company, actually you must have said you been work for 1 year..... which could add some strong document to them.. so this time you tell them your presence is much needed, and project them every way of your trip,

VISA Rejected and Reapplied
Hi All,
My B1 VISA got rejected under 214 (b) section last month. I have given them the details properly. what could be the reason? My company reapplied my B1 VISA and I have interview next week. Will I get the B1 VISA this time?

How can I prepare to get the VISA this time?

Last time consulate asked the following...

how long I work for my company?
I said past 1month.

Why your company sending you to US with a month?
I have meeting with client to gather requirement for ongoing project.

Show me your invitation letter? then I gave them the invitation letter then they said cannot issue VISA under 214 (b)...

Please advice me...

Thanks,
Mani

Got my B1 stamped
Hi friends,

I went for the US B1 stamping in the month of May 2008 at US Chennai Consulate. I was initially tensed because it was my first time. I had prepared well for the interview, the documents were in order and I was confident. I got inside the consulate building at about 7:05am. The security guy checked my documents and he let me inside. Then my documents were again verified by another office and the fingerprints were taken. I waited for 20 minutes and later I was told to proceed to the interview block. I stood in the queue. When my turn came:

VO: Good morning (smiling)
Me: Good morning (smiling)

VO: How are you?
Me: I'm fine, thanks.

VO: Oh you are from xyz company?
Me: Yes.

VO: You are an (my designation).
Me: That's right.

VO: How long you have been in this company?
ME: XYZ years

VO: Why you are going to the US?
ME: Answered as per the objective.

VO: Nodded her head.
Me: Smiled at her.

VO: Can you tell me about your project?
ME: Explained that.

VO: How long do you intend to stay?
ME: XYZ months.

VO: I will issue the Visa.
ME: Thank you so much.

It was more of a friendly interaction. I enjoyed interacting with the VO and when I answered the questions truthfully and without any problems, I knew I would get the Visa.

So, guys n gals, just be cool and do not panic. Ensure your documents are proper and carry any supporting documents that can help you in the interview. Be truthful and honest, this is very important.

Regards,
Raghavendra

Got B1/B2 for 10 years on 5th attempt!
Hi, I hope this is an encouragement for those genuine people who've had their visas rejected. I work for a church and have been invited since 2003 to attend conferences / meetings by other churches in the US that are connected to us. Was refused in 2003 to attend a conference (1st time), reapplied in a couple of months time and refused again (2nd time) In June 2007(after 3 years)applied with my family to visit my sister's family on a holiday. Was refused (3rd time). In Aug 2007 applied again (for a conference) and was rejected (4th time). Applied on April 4th 2008,(5th attempt) with very low confidence...(also note: applying 3rd time within the last 12 months)and was granted a 10 year multiple entry visa! In all my earlier interviews VO only looked at Invitation letter (no other docs) and asked standard questions for 2 mins. They would also ask me about my brother and sister who are H1B and Green card respectively...I guessed this was one thing that went against me. Was the same this time, only difference was VO flipped through my passport (have been to 5 other countries) and granted the visa. Thank God!
