Wanted to check if anyone in this forum had a similar experience - I received an email last month from the consulate in Ottawa regarding my Tuesday Dec 18 H1B appointment. I was informed that due to "unforeseeable reasons" the Consulate will be closed from all visa appointments on Tuesday Dec 18 and they had rescheduled my appointment to Wednesday Dec 19...
Anyone received similar re-arrangements? Booked everything to fly in Monday night and out Friday night...now I'm a little concerned that I won't get my passport in time.
Read in this forum that earlier this month there were processing delays in Ottawa, is that still the case now? How many days since day 1 (interview day) will you be able to pick up the passport? Should I still expect to get my passport on day 3? (Wed interview, Fri pickup)
Hi everyone, I am gathering the document for my interview next week in Vancouver. Does anyone has a check list for required documents to bring with you for your interview? or can you please suggest me what are the documents that I must bring?
When the consultant asks for I-129 petition, does it mean to show them the receipt? or the I-129 form that contain 36 pages?
Time to give back on this forum as this is very helpful!

I need an urgent help on my situation. I am an Indian and on H4 in USA. My H1B petition is approved now. I came to USA on H4 few weeks back, I don't want to go back to all the way to India for H1 stamping.
Can I go to Canada for H1 stamping? This will be my first H1b stamping, never had H1 before, but worked in USA on multiple L1B for many years.
We had our interview on 29th Nov, Wed in Toronto. Here is our experience
We flew from US to Toronto previous day.
We had our interview at 8.15 am, we reached consulate office around 7.45.
Outside the consulate office, there was line of around 8-10 ppl, there was a small check of your passport and DS160 confirmation page.
Once this is done, security check inside which is just after entrance.
Then we moved inside, document verification in one window, payment in another window.
This whole process took around 10 minutes.
Then we stood in the interview line, there were around 3-4 interview windows.
After waiting for around 5 mins in the line, our turn came.
The Visa officer started;
VO : How are you guys doing.
We : We are doing good. How are you?
VO : Good good, thank you
To me:
VO : Which company you work for. I answered
VO : How long you are with this company. I Answered
VO : All exp in US? I said accurate number of years for both offshore and onsite
VO : What do you do here? Since mine was specialized skill visa, i explained him in very short(around 2-3 lines)
VO: Whats your title.
To my hubby:
VO : Whats your title
VO: How long with the company
To my 8 years son
VO :Do you like school in US
VO : Do you want to become computer engineer like your parents.
My son was bold enough in his answers. VO was very happy and conversing with him with nice smile, and love.
In-fact the VO was too young and was good with the whole family. He covered all of us randomly, like 1 que to me, 1 que to my hubby. He was addressing my hubby as SIR.
Then he started looking into passports, he got some doubts, so went to other VOs for clarification.
He came back after 10 minutes and said I am approving your VISA.
And said, your son has L2 from both of you and both L2 are active in his passport. He said one cannot hold same type of visa 2 times. Though my son entered US on My visa, VO said during 2nd time L2 stamping, consulate in India would have cancelled previously stamped L2 VISA.
Then he said, he will cancel both of his active L2 VISA and issue the new VISA for which you have come here.
I still had 2 months validity of my Visa, he cancelled that as well and said you will receive fresh visa.
Then again he started conversing, how long you guys are here, don't book your return ticket for another 3-5 days. Then he handed over me 2 copies of my documents to give it to my employer.
Came back to room and checked the status, it was admin processing
On 30th Thu status changed to Issued.
1st Dec. Fri Picked up from Consulate office.
2-3 : Sat, Sun
4th Dec : Ready to pick.
Hello, I had an appointment with the U.S. Consulate in Vancouver, BC, Canada for H-1B stamping on 11/30/2017. I had selected Richmond Post Office for passport delivery.
Everything went well at the consulate. Visa Consulate said that I should receive my passport by the middle of next week (i.e. around 12/6/2017).
But as of 12/6/2017 8 AM, my passport has not been delivered.
website indicates that visa was issued, and also contains a courier tracking number. This would indicate the passport was picked up by Canada Post.
But shows that on 12/1 the passport was picked up Canada Post. But till now (12/6/2017) 8 AM, the passport has not been delivered to the selected post office.
Did anyone have visa stamping at Vancouver at around the same time as me? I would like to know your positive or negative experiences for passport delivery.
