NRI Services and Transfer of Money
The Citibank NRI services are the worst service.
The experience is terrible. The service is really bad in India. People have no ethical standard with respect to words, their meanining and commitment. They say they will call u in five minutes. They never respond. I have very bitter experience. First of all don't have any account with Citibank. Even if you do, don't have NRI account with India. They are all business hype and they don't have trained or knowledgeable personnel to help. Access also is difficult.

I came to India after 28 years in the US expecting cultural shock. But what I experienced here is an Earthquake of Richter Scale 10.5 with respect to Nasty behavior of professional in general.

The Worst sevice of ICICI Money2India
ICICI Bank Monney2India service is simply horrible and I request nobody should attempt to use this service. I have tried their service to send money to India and every time they took more than 10days time, stating that the beneficiary bank has rejected the fund, but the beneficiary bank has always denied the same. In order to get my money back, I had to write numorous e-mails and spent many hours talking to their phone banking officers. The phone banking officers are trained in such a way that they will always bypass your queries and will never reply to you. The ICICI care is another horrible experience, whenever you write a mail, theywill ask of three days time. After 3-dasy you send a mail, they will again ask for another 3-days and so the matter will be dragged indefinitely by a multiple of 3.
On 9/2/07 I made a request for my remittance to India and ICICI bank had taken my money immediately, but still today, 21/2/07 they have neither delivered the money, nor they are confirming anything about where the money is. I am now totally puzzled about what to do now. I think it is a clear case of cheating by ICICI bank. Hence, please do not use this service of ICICI Bank

Stay away from "timesofmoney.com".
Stay away from "timesofmoney.com". They are cheaters. The exchange rate they put on their site they never give you. They always give you less exchange rate saying “they have given you the rate at the time they send you money to your account which is always less than rate on their site”. I had this experience twice and same with my friends.

They will never pay you the promotional offer money with remittance, you have to call them few times and every time they will tell you they will resolve this in next 48 hrs and no action. Most probably you will give up. Last time I lost Rs-2500, 5 transaction to cover $40000 on same day ( Lost money in promotional offer 5 * 500 = Rs2500).

I booked the transaction on Feb 08 (Remittance no 13315200ZZZ) after talking with their customer relation guy called Prasad. He agreed to give me exchange rate 43.79 with additional Rs500 (promotional offer). He told me Remittance amount will be ($3000*43.79 + 500=Rs-131870). But on 14th Feb, the actual amount deposited was 1,31,111.00 (exchange rate 43.70 plus no Rs500). When I called them after 27 minutes, person called “Santosh” took the phone and start to come up with all the stories.

He said “timesofmoney gave you 43.72 and took out the service charge Rs.56 and about promotional offer, he will check with Prasad as he doesn’t know about it.
Come on it was their on the site the day, I book the transaction. How come you don’t know???

I checked exchange rate everyday from Feb 08 to Feb 14, their site never shown the exchange rate 43.70 or 43.72. Also there is nothing about service charge.

When I finally reach Prasad, he told me to go to link “Get Rs.1000/- on your First Transaction” on site where it says it takes 4 week to get the promotional offer money.

Prasad you stupid link it self says it is for first transaction and this is my second transfer. Also you told me initially it will come with remittance money.

Let me know you have point to prove timesofmoney.com is good service. If you timesofmoney guys you have balls to prove that you are good call me Santosh

remit2India donot ever use their service.
Remit2India web site says they can transfer money from US to India in 3 business days- very misleading.

I placed on order on 1/7/2007. As of today 1/14/2007 It has not reached. be prepared to take
-lower exchange rate
-Slower than snail mail
-bad customer service - They repeat the same story

Moey2India worked better

SBI online money transfer
I use the SBI online money transfer almost every week for small amounts. It takes 7 business days to transfer the money if you are transferring the money into your own SBI NRE account.

Fastest remittance service
Fastest method of remittance is using State Bank of india (New York). You need to register with them and everytime you need to remit, fill a form, enter your debit card number and fax them the form. The amount gets debited from the bank same day and it will appear in your NRE account the next morning.

Money Sent through ICICI Bank
I have been sending money through money2india since last 6-7 months and didnot find any problem in sending. The money was sent to either to my brother or to one of my account.

anyone tell me if I or my Brother need to declare anything in Income tax authority for it about the money sent to India from US.

thanks,
