Hello Guys, my wife gave birth a few days ago and we have our interview next week. We don't have a birth certificate with us at the moment. Do you guys think the IO will have a problem with it or just taking our new born child along with pictures will be enough. What do you guys think

interview October 30
Hello, want to share my experience

Yesterday i finally had my interview it lasted around 20 - 30 min we were called right on time. Our lawyer was with us.
the Io asked us to raised our right hand to swear that we where going to tell the truth
then she took my picture and index fingerprints, after that she asked me for my visa that i came in with and she said that she need it to keep it. then she made copy of my EAD and my husband license. Then she started to confirm all the information on the form ( name, birthdate, place of birth, parents name, marriage date) she asked me the yes or questions. and how we meet. she mention that having a child was proof that our marriage was real.

at the end she said that we were approved but that the system was down and so she couldn't approved it in the system because she need it t do a last background check so she gave us a paper that the it was held for review. our lawyer asked her if she could call us to know when could come back to get my passport stamped and she agree to call me.

To be honest i was super nervous at the beginning but my lawyer started joking around with her so the mood change to be more friendly and casual. I hope she calls me soon with the good news or at least received a text or email update.

Good luck to those that still waiting or preparing for upcoming interviews

Interview at Washington field office
Hi everyone ,
Here is my interview experience. Pd is 12/21/2016. Interview was on 10/25, arrived at 8:45, attorney checked us in, was called in less than 5 minutes after sitting down. My attorney said it was a new record!
I think interview went well but at the end officer said it was being held for review. Our attorney did indicate that they are not adjudicating cases now like they used to. She says that normally they are being held for review so we were not expecting a response on that date which sucks because we have already been waiting for some long.
Interview went well, officer was very detailed, we were sworn in, she took my photo and fingerprints,
went through I130 and 1485 completely, asked how we met, asked parents names, where we got married, how was the wedding. She went through the forms completely. We were in there for approximately 45 minutes. Officer seemed a little disorganized and inexperienced. My attorney kept reminding her of all the docs we had already submitted. She kept repeating some of the questions, not sure if she was trying to trick us or just not paying attention. She was making notes and checking off information as she reviewed it. I was very familiar with the forms as I work in the legal field. I feel that if your marriage is real all will be fine. My husband and I have been married for almost 7 years and together for almost 10 so I’d say we know each other pretty well. She did mention that our Affidavit of Support was already approved and the National Benefits Center. We submitted current taxes, new lease, bank statements and a few photos. She made copies of my husband’s birth certificate, that was already submitted in the original packet but she asked to see the original. Thankfully we had it, she made copies of all my passports, old and current. I arrived with a B1/B2 when I was 12 years old so had all my information including my I-94. Traveled on advanced parole when I was 17 since I have TPS and she asked to see that information which was just a stamp in my previous passport.
All in all everything went well, she said case will be held for review because her supervisor has to check everything, she did say that she did not anticipate them needing anything else from us or that we would be called for another interview. She said to expect an answer with 3-4 weeks. Also asked they yes and no questions at the end.
At the end she just asked how we were going to celebrate being done with the interview and we said by having lunch with my husband’s parents. She wished us well and we thanked her for her time and for working on our case.
My husband and I felt very confident and attorney said the case being held for review is just a formality and that we should get approval letters soon.

Please let me know if you all have questions, relax and share your experience with me. Remember every case is different and just be yourself.

Thanks for reading my experience!
