Must need to submit a new DS 160 for changing interview location?
Dear all, I have mentioned H1-B visa interview location as Toronto in DS 160 but scheduled the interview in Calgary. My visa interview is on 14th of December. But recently I received an email from Calgary consulate that I must have to fill a new DS 160 if Calgary location was not chosen while submitting DS 160. Do I need to submit a new DS 160? Suggestions please.

First Time H1B Stamping in Toronto
Nov 16: Interview. Consular said the passport will be ready on Nov 22. Visa Status Tracker - Visa Approved
Nov 22: Visa Status Tracker - Still Visa Approved

I want to ask if I will get an email when the status tracker changes from visa approved to visa issued or do I just keep checking the website. Also, how many days do you receive your passport after the tracker changes to visa approved?

I came to Canada from the US just for this and I am very worried now. Kindly share any experience or what I can/should do.

Thank You

H1B visa stamp experience in October first week at US consulate in Calgary
Background: I was on an H1B visa till April this year working for my US employer before I was laid off. Rather than doing the 60 day grace period, I moved to Canada and started doing some freelance projects for Toptal and Upwork.

While I was still employed with my US employer and before the lay off, I had scheduled an H1B visa stamp appointment at the Calgary consulate for October 6. Since I was laid off and no longer had the job, I was planning to cancel this appointment.

I was looking for US jobs while being in Canada, and in august this year, I found a new job with a US employer who filed my H1B visa transfer in premium processing and consular processing. I used the existing H1B visa stamp appointment to get the new stamp.

Timeline:
1. September 15: Immigration team filed H1B transfer petition in premium processing with California service centre
2. September 18: H1B transfer approved as consular processing
3. September 25: Immigration team received I-797 receipt notice from USCIS
4. September 29: Immigration team sent me the original I-797 receipt notice in Canada
5. October 2: I submit Ds-160 form to US consulate in Calgary and update the receipt number and DS-160 number on the AIS scheduling portal
6. October 6:

Visa appointment 9 AM at the consulate in calgary. Interview just lasted a minute and I was just asked if this was my first h1b and if I have worked in H1B status in the past.

They also asked me for a physical copy of the employment verification letter, I-797, and what my new role would be would be and when was I last in the US. They also asked me my status in Canada and what I was doing since the last 6 months to which I mentioned I was a PR and doing freelance projects for US and Canadian clients.

For some reason, they rejected my photo and asked me to get a new one. They give you a slip and provide you the address of a photo studio nearby to get a new photograph. One needs to be resubmit the photograph by 3:30 PM that day. I got a new photograph and submitted it to the security at the entrance of the consulate.

7. My initial visa status before I submitted the new photograph was 'refused'. As soon as I submitted the new photograph, the status changed to 'Approved' before end of day on October 6.
8. October 10: Visa status changed to 'Issued' and I received a courier number.
9. October 12: I received the passport with the new stamp in mail.

Overall, the process was smooth and very easy! Based on my experience, in person appointment processing time is way faster than dropbox.

G-4 Visa with Spouse
Hello all,

Been following these threads and have been super helpful so far. Want to share my experience and ask for some guidance or tips if anyone faced anything similar.

I work for the World Bank and came to Canada to apply for a G-4 visa through the Ottawa embassy and my wife applied with me as a G-4 spouse. We can only mail in our application to the embassy so we did so with the following dates:

19th September: Sent applications through fedex.
20th September: Reached Embassy, application opened
22nd September: My status approved, spouse status refused
no updates
6th October: My status issued, spouse still refused (last opened 22nd September)
7th October: Recieved Fedex through prepaid waybill from embassy. Contained all our documents and passports. My visa was stamped, my spouse's passport was empty and there was no 221(g) or any further documentation required put in there.

Tried emailing embassy and getting in touch but no response. has anyone else recieved their passport back without stamp/status refused, and no further information on if processing is required? Would be a great help. Thank you.

Unusual Delay experience for h1b at Toronto, CA; not received stamped passport yet
My Interview was on Sep 15th. Status changed to Approved on Sep 15th. Has been in that status since then and did not change to 'Issued' nor did I get any email to pick up. Is anyone on the same boat?

Anyone else has experience like this and knows the reason for the delay? If yes, did you do anything about it? How long did it take for you to finally pick up your passport? Please share your feedback.
