PIO Card

Hi All,

I too have applied for PIO Minor at Houston location and have similar problem of perhaps not getting the PIO before i travel. The status is same as yours and it is currently in possession of India Consulate. I have planned for travel on 21st Nov and afraid that i too would not be able to make as per plan based on the current status. Please someone can help how can i get that or any update.

I applied for PIO minor for Newyork thru post. The status since 10/20/2014 is as below
Your application has been submitted at The Indian Embassy for further processing.
I have a travel plan on November 17th.... so worried now.

Did anyone got their pio cards processed during that time frame?
If I go to Newyork consulate can I get the US passport and PIO card by hand or atleast will they tell us any status how long does it take?? (Calling customer service number is not working since they just say 4-6 weeks)
Did anyone got their pio cards by going directly to any consulate??

Hello guys

I submitted PIO application for my minor child to Chicago division on 10/30 and received "Your application has been submitted at The Indian Embassy/Consulate for further processing. 11/04/2014". I have booked my tickets to india on 25 th November. Not sure whether it would make it. But, is there any other alternate solution to get the passport with approved visa. I know we can apply visa though consulate but his paasport was sent along with his application. Is it possible to use the US citizen card to apply for visa ? please let me know.

I have guessed other PIO applications based on my application number going backwards, the application tracking number format is this USA <Embassy code W for DC><6-digit-serial-number> 14.

Here are my findings:
Today our DC Indian Embassy folks has approved approximately 22 PIO application dated 10/3/2014 and 10/08/2014.

There are still many applications went on 10/08/2014 (to embassy not ckgs) are still pending, almost all the application went on 10/3/2014 were processed except one application.

Note: This process is not to invade the privacy of other fellow applicants, I did this to just know more about the processing time of our embassy office.

I got the confirmation today that they have received the passport back from embassy so expecting the PIO early next week.

hello guys,

It has been 6 complete weeks today since the date the PIO application is submitted to the embassy from SFO CKGS. it is for my wife's PIO card based on spouse of indian origin.

application received by CKGS on 09/24
application submitted to Indian embassy for further processing on 09/29

today on 07/11 - 6 weeks are complete. I have still not got any updates from SFO CKGS. It is very frustrating that it is taking more than even 6 weeks!!!

there email replies are very dumb and just stating the obvious that it takes 4 - 6 weeks. they dont have any additional idea it seems like. no phone replies as well..

My wife has travel tickets booked on 16th November. it is only 1 week left and this people wont even give any information.

It is frustrating that i kept enough time between submission of application to travel date still i am stuck. seen people getting it done in ~ 3 weeks.

anybody is in similar situation please let me know. Anybody who got it around in 6 weeks time frame also let me know. that can guide me if i need to wait some more or start with the passport withdrawal procedure or delay the travel.

My status is pending with Chicago Consulate from 23rd oct. Any one got the PIO card recently in less than 4 weeks???

I have received my son's PIO card on Nov 3rd from Chicago office.
On PIO card first page (photo page) PIO card no is printed as P followed by 6 digits (ex:- P123456). However, on top of every page the PIO number is punched with dotted holes where the pio number shows as P0 followed by 6 digits(ex:- P0123456).

is this same for everyone who has received the PIO card?

We have to travel by nov 14th.

Any chance of getting pio before 14th ?

Anyone knows the procedure to collect US passport from the embassy, So that I can apply for an emergency visa?? I have to travel urgent .
