Hi All,

I applied for OCI card for my 1 year old kid.. Just wanted to check how's the current experience at SFO center..

For my 5 year old Son's passport, it was quick..

Just Thumbs up for Good and received card in 1 month and down for delayed / regular 60 days time.

Just want to make sure and get confidence about booking tickets in advance.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. Has anyone recently received an OCI card for a newborn without submitting an apostilled copy of birth certificate through the NYC CGI? thanks

Seems like they really want a copy of apostilled birth certificate, I was able to send them again.

I hope they make changes to the OCI form at CKGS or atleast make the letters RED in color to highlight the word "Apostilled", in CKGS form.

It is literally mentioned once in small black and white letter.

I have applied for new OCI card for my minor child. Below is the status in OCI India website. I have booked my flight tickets on Nov-18-2019. Please advise will I be able to get the OCI card on time(based on your experiences)? Also I am wondering if the Document printing status will be changed only after the OCI is received at CKGS?

Date Of Acknowledgment: 07-AUG-2019
Registration Status at Mission: WASHINGTON DC
Documents Printing Status: UNDER-PROCESS

I was wondering if there was dedicated lanes at immigration for OCIs at major airports like Delhi and Mumbai?

Also what should I do if the check-in agent at the departure airport isn't satisfied that the OCI card will serve as a visa because I have the new OCI booklet with no visa stamped onto my passport?

Hi all,

I am heading to India (Delhi) for a couple of months and thought about getting my OCI card there (I am currently in the process of renunciation at the SF mission and they don't allow applying for OCI and renouncing at the same time - for some weird reason). I emailed FRRO Delhi to ask about documents etc, but they told me that it is better to apply in the US as they only accept OCI applications from applicants that have resided more than 80% of the time in India. Any one here has obtained their OCI card while on vacation in India? Here is the full email from them:

Foreign national is authorized to apply for OCI card at place where he/she is residing ordinarily (means 80% of the year). You are advised to apply to Embassy of India abroad where you are residing.
