Yes, you read it correctly. I received my kids OCI card in 2 weeks. Quick and remarkable experience at VFS and CGI, here is the timeline -

27-Sep-2023 : Sent the documents to VFS
28-Sep-2023 : Documents received and email notification from VFS
29-Sep-2023 : Application has been processed and is submitted to Mission for decision making.
03-Oct-2023 : Under process in the GOI (OCI status) website.
09-Oct-2023 : Document printing status updated to Processed
10-Oct-2023 : Application dispatched using the courier service opted.
11-Oct-2023 : Received OCI card via FedEx.

Nowadays, the OCI card processing time has reduced considerably. My only suggestion for new applicants is to keep legitimate copy of all the documents and follow instructions specified in the VFS page.

I mailed my OCI application Atlanta VFS center. It got delivered on Oct 3rd, 2023 and today, my status finally updated on the VFS website. However, the website says the following:

Your application is currently “on hold” due to certain deficiencies. Please check your email for more details and send the requested documents to the VFS Indian consular application Centre where you had submitted your application

Remarks:
YOUR APPLICATION IS FORWARDED TO CONSULATE FOR REVIEW.

I am confused because it says my application is "on hold" but then at the bottom it says application forwarded to consulate for review. I checked my email and it also does not have any information on missing documents. It just says:

Documents Comments
Additional documents YOUR APPLICATION IS FORWARDED TO CONSULATE FOR REVIEW.

I am so confused. Does this mean it has been sent to consulate and I am okay? I don't even know what to send.

I mailed our complete applications (wife and two minor kids) to VFS / CGI SF processing center using their prepaid courier service (ups) on Oct 2nd, 2023. Per the tracking information it was delivered/ received by VFS on Oct 3rd, 2023

I have not received any emails acknowledging receipt nor am I able to get status update through the vfs oci tracking portal, only returns "invalid inputs".

Question: how long from when the application envelope is delivered by the courier service do you get any email communication confirm receipt and processing and/or are able to track progress online?

Thank you all for your support.. Now days its faster as compare to before.. almost took only 1.5 month for overall process.

Hello, I applied OCI for my 2 boys (both minors) on July 26th at the Atlanta VFS. Both their status shows the card number has been allotted and 'document printing status' as 'processed' as of Aug 28 but no other progress since then.
I see posts here saying most receive it within a month, so am getting a little worried as too why mine has taken close to 2 months now.
any inputs will be helpful, thank you.

July 19th, 2023: Application Received at VFS
July 21st, 2023: Notice to resend "Parental Authorization" with physical signatures (e-signs/e-notary were not enough)
July 24th, 2023: We have ‘Received’ your Application and your application is now ‘Under Process’ at Chicago and will be submitted to the Mission for decision making
July 25th, 2023: Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the VFS India Consular application Centre and currently is ‘In-Transit‘ to the Embassy of India/Consulate General of India for decision making
July 26th, 2023: Date of Acknowledgement on OCI Govt. Website.
Sept 12th, 2023: Your Application has been reviewed by the Embassy of India/ Consulate General of India & will be dispatched using the courier service you had opted.

I am facing a strange experience with OCI card application. Applied for OCI for my twin babies and for one baby OCI card received in a month and for other baby status still shown as Under Process. Based on others experience now the timeline is in between one and two months at SFO consulate.

Can anyone guide me like how should I approach (VFS is useless as they were giving a standard template) and get the right status of application. We had travel plans but postponed as OCI card did not arrive.

I applied for OCI reissuance in mid Jul and eventually the OCI was received by the consulate yesterday. Today (Aug 31). I get the email from VFS as follows:

Your document (s) is dispatched using the return label purchased or sent by you.If using VFS courier, please check for email from "[email protected]" for details.
If you have used your prepaid label then track the status via the website of the concerned service provider.

There has been no email from FedEx with tracking info. I called VFS and they say the shipping label has not yet been generated and it can take 24-48 hours to do so. Not sure why they did not mention this in the email. Since I am not that far from SF, I asked if I can pick up the OCI in person from their office. They do not allow in person
pickup.

Now I get the tracking info from UPS, while their email says FedEx. Not sure if anyone knows what's happening in that office. In any case, I hope that I get the docs tomorrow.

VFS global CS suggesting wait for 6 long weeks for reissue of OCI card, so not going to plan any immediate travel to india as my Original OCI card with the CGI San Francisco and any emergency fmly travel would need an eViSA , unfortunately for this there is no real solution though I wish MEA and India immigration allows me to travel based on the OCI reissue processing pending at the CGI San Francisco

Hi All - Here is my timeline. Was faster than expected though I had an initial hitch.

June19th, 2023 - Application received at VFS
June 20th 2023 - Notice that "Photo" was not to spec, have to resend
June 22nd 2023 - Uploaded new photo online on OCI website. Printed updated OCI application with updated photo. Resent physical signed version of updated OCI application and new photo original by UPS, along with copy of email sent from VFS.
June 27th 2023 - Received at VFS
June 30th 2023 - Application has been processed and is submitted to Mission for decision making
June 5th 2023 - Under Process on the OCI website
July 21st, 2023 - Document Printing status updated to Processed on the OCI website, dispatched from New Delhi
July 24 th 2023 - Application is dispatched using the courier service opted
July 25, 2023 - Received OCI card via FedEx
