My in laws appeared for B2 Visa on Oct 28 and got their Visa issued for 10 years. We just followed the documents as suggested in www.immihelp.com. The questions that were asked during their interview were:
Who will be there in US? Daughter and son-in-law
How long you want to go? 2 months
Why only that long? Have 2 younger sons studying in India.

Thought I will share with you all! Thanks for the website and those of you who shared your experiences.

Regards,
Srini

Successful B2 for parents at Beijing on 10/19
Got the good news this morning. My parents waited in line for more than a hour for fingerprinting, about a minute in front of the officer, he didn't look at any of the documents we prepared, just asked the pictures, as soon as he saw my brother's cute little son, and my mom told him that my brother live in china, that's it! This is their first time to apply a visa.

Got Visa for my MIL on 2nd Attempt
My In-laws attended interview on Oct1st and got their visitor visa for 10 years - multiple entry.

The interview was smooth and came out clean.

Actually my MIL was rejected in June and the only difference this time is that both my In-laws attended together.

Note: Both me & my spouse r only child to our parents!! and the officer seemed to have verified that twice.

Thanks to each one of you for sharing ur thoughts & experiences. It is an wonderful site!! Hats off to immihelp

Successful B2 for in-laws at Chennai on 10/7
My in-laws were able to procure their B2 visa successfully during their interview at Chennai successfully. They're in their low 70's, I had fixed their interview in July for October. I had requested a Malayalam translator. They had waited for about 4 hrs but due to unavailability of a Malayalam translator, my father-in-law had stated that he's fluent in English. The consular acknowledged and asked the following questions:
1. What's the turnover of your business?
2. Does your daughter work?
3. How long would you like to visit the US?

He approved and asked them when are they planning to visit here. Since their response was sometime in December, he asked them to take warm clothes. They were apparently very helpful to the elderly.

They received their visas by courier yesterday.

All's well that ends well. Good luck to you all.

visitor`s visa rejected for my wife and myself
My wife appeared for interview on 20/10/04 and her application was rejected citing 214b.though she answered all questions and produced relevant documents.since i could not appear along with her, i appeared separately on 28/10/04.the consular officer asked very few simple questions and i answered promptly.but he refused to see the documents produced by me and rejected my application instantly citing 214b.i don`t really see any rhyme and reasons for rejections.Do the consular officers receive any share or incentive out of the $100 or rs4600 paid by us along with applications, if they reject more applications.can anyone throw light on this.from this site, i see that more number of applicants are refused visitor`s visa by the chennai consular office.Thanks.

3) Purpose for the visit is to see daughter and her family instead of Tourism (as we applied for only a month).
4) Elaborated the Affidavit - included my fathers name and occupation, listed all of my brother's and sister's names and mentioned where they live, and if they are married or not. Along with property, savings information, added monthly pension amount also.
5) Provided a letter from a Police Official (Superintendent of Police) close to the family assuring my mom's return back to India.

Re-applying visitor visa for parents
Hi,

My parents (both are 60+) visitor's visa was refused under 214(b) at New Delhi consulate without seeing any papers. There were asked 2-3 questions ( Do you work , how many kids and where they are located) and after that their visa was refused. I am not sure what could have been the reason for refusal.

Well, None of my siblings are in US and my parents are retired so I don't undestand what did they find so bad to refuse their visa.

I am puzzeled since they didn't look any papers what I sent from here and It was refused for no obvious reason.

Did anyone faced similar situation earlier? What are the chances of getting visa's 2nd time? Any tips ?

Do I need to send I-134 (affidavit of support), recent bank statements , pay stubs etc again or earlier sent papers would be fine ? All the documents were sent in month of August so they would be more than 70 days old in November.

Any help would be appreciated..

DT
