Got 10 years visitor visa from Mumbai consulate
Thanks to immihelp.com for tremadeous guidance provided on the site, it is the grate help I got to get the visa. I had appeared on 6.5.04 for interview and the consular was a lady, very co-operative. I had offered the consular to look at the documents which I was carrying, she did not look at any documents and ask me the following questions, which I replied confidently.

Who is in USA
What is he doing
What u r doing
What is ur annual income
For what period u need the visa
How many children and what r they doing

My experience with consular was nice, if u r perfect and confident in ur reply, chances of getting visa will be more. Best of luck to all who r appearing for interview.

experience of refusal of visa
Hi friends,
                   Few days’ back my parents visa got rejected, they were supposed to go for graduation ceremony of my younger sister, who is in Illinois and she is a permanent resident of united states. My brother in law is a senior manager in Nextel communications and he earns $96,000.00 annually. She went to USA on h4 visa after marriage and her husband was on h1 visa. Now both have permanent resident of America. Interviewer asked few questions;
1- Who is there in America?
2- What are you by profession?
3- What you earn monthly?
4- What are your daughter and son in law status in America?
5- Her first entry to America?
6- Your case is open
7- Gets me your daughter and son in law visa and passport copy and new status in America.
Then they give document showing to submit required papers.
Two days after on Monday we went to Delhi embassy to show them required papers and on looking on papers, she said they could not call you. We couldn’t understand what interviewer meant. As my sister is going to complete her masters in computers in may and then she will apply for job. She is dependent on her husband. Lastly, visa rejected. Suggest us should we reapply on same base or any required document we need to show them. Please help us.

214b refusal for the reason- extension of visitors visa
Appreciate all your experiences in immihelp. My parents got 214b refusal from Chennai consulate. My parents extended their visa when they visited US in 1998 and stayed for 9 months. My parents (both father & mother) got a 214b refusal in Nov 2003. Again my mom went for visa on April 22nd 2004 and got 214b. They did not look at any of the documents. They just asked her why you stayed for 9 months. My mom said she was not well, so could not visit places in 6 months period.

I read from the experiences that with senator’s letter visa officer will at least look at the documents. Can anyone help me with the case where 214b is given for the reason, extension of visa beyond 6 months (with approval - legal) in the previous visit? Was anyone successful in getting their visa later with the above case? My parents are planning to have another visa appointment next month. Appreciate your valuable information.

First of all thanks to immihelp and everyone for all the help and advice. I sent all the documents that were specified in immihelp.

My mother in law got 10 years multiple entry visa in chennai in first attempt. They had gone for the visa interview on 27th April. Just few questions were asked to my MIL. They got the visa next day. She asked for 4 months VISA instead of 6 months.

Questions :

1) who is in usa.
" My daughter and SIL"
2) what is your husband is doing.
" Working in Govt. Service..."
3) what is your husband's salary.
" Rs. ZZZ"
4) what is second daughter is doing here.
" she is doing her B.Com in India"

My MIL answered all these questions and they told her u got visa. Next day she received the passport with 10 year visa.

USA visit visa for people who r in India & would like to visit USA from Canada.
Hi Guys,
I am planning to get my parents who live in India to visit Toronto,Canada. They have a valid visitor visa to Canada. During their stay in Canada, I would like to take them around to USA on visit as well. I am a permanent resident of Canada and have 5 year visitor visa to USA. Since there is no sponsorer from USA, can I apply visit visa for them on just me living in Canada basis? I saw I134 support affidavit form and it is only for people who live in USA. Both my parents are above 60. I would appreciate any advise or comments on this. Sorry for posting it here as the discussion forum page is erroring out.

Parents got visa
My parents went for interview. My dad is 60+ and my mom
59. Consulate officer wants to make sure that person applying
for visitor visa will come back. For my parents they just looked
at I-134 that I sent, my passport copies and copy of I-797.
For my parents office just looked at the passport and application.
Didn't even bother to look at their personal affidavits or other
papers showing their ties to India. But it's always a good idea to take
these papers. In case if they want to see.

Officer, just asked some simple questions to my dad:
1. Where do I live in US ?
2. Why are they going to US ?
3. Where do I work ?
4. Where did my dad use to work before retiring ?
5. How many children do my parents have ?

For my parents it was straightforward case. I have a big
family and all of my brothers, sister and their kids are in India.

Senator's Letter doesn't mean you will get visa
My parents visitor visa was rejected in March 2004 under section 241(b). Then,I learned from this web site that Senator's letter wil help them getting visa. My parents apreared second time for visitors' visa with Senator's letter in Arpil 2004, but still their visa was denied under section 214(b). So, it doesn't mean that if you have senator's letter, you will get visa..same questions..same story..same reason..!!!
