Canada Visa

I had sent my passport for TRV to CPC Ottawa. it got delivered 12/10, Monday. I dont see any updates anywhere. have to be in canada by 12/23. is there a number or email that I can contact?

I have applied online on the Canada.ca website for a Transit Visa. Upon receiving the Passport Request letter I sent my passport along with the necessary documents and fees such as the package transmission fee using UPS to the New York City VAC. Now my transit visa has been approved and stamped into my passport. I got a notification on my tracking ID with VFS saying the return decision envelope was picked up on Friday 15th December at around 7PM EST.

However, how can I get the UPS tracking number for the label generated by the VAC? On their website they say the courier tracking information can be found on the invoice-cum-receipt (ICR) which is issued when they receive the passport. However, for mail in applications on their website they say the ICR (with the tracking number for the return UPS courier) is put into the return decision envelope itself.

Worst comes to worst, I will wait till Monday morning and contact the VAC for the UPS tracking number for the return decision envelope.

The last update I received from the VAC NY office was Dec 10, saying my "passport has been dispatched to the IRCC office." No changes since then. With travel on Dec 18, I don't know what to do?

What's the typical messaging process from the dispatch? HELP....

Hi.. i have submitted paper based application in person at NYC centre and my application package(with passport ) is sent to IRCC office in NY on 12/5. Normally how long does it take for a paper based application to get processed in Canada Embassy? CIC website shows the processing time as 2 weeks in US.

All of you have been extremely helpful, and I wanted to add my experience here.

October 23rd - Applied for visa online for a business trip to Canada
October 30th - Received request to send out passport
November 23rd - Sent passport after 3 weeks due to being out of the country
November 23rd to December 10th - No update on visa, I had no idea where my passport was (UPS did confirm they dropped it at right location). Sent multiple emails to info.canny and feedback emails with no response. Called up the helpdesk which was useless (talking to a broken record)
December 11th - Finally saw some updates, got my tracking ID and also my passport number was updated on the cic portal
December 12th - Decision Envelope dispatched
December 13th - Envelope received by NY VAC and mailed
December 14th - Received my overnight UPS return envelope with passport at 9:50 am

I already missed my business trip as it was support to be on 10th December.

I have to say that out of the 20 visas I have on my passport this was the most cumbersome , frustrating and time taking.

I will suggest either you go in person or go via a 3rd party agent who can follow up in person at VAC

Hopefully this is more transient and VFS is able to catch up to the influx of applications but I am happy I dont have to deal with this again for a while!

I have one question , does going down to ny speed up the process?

My passport was received at VAC LA on 5th December. My application was filed by some lawyers. So. I never shared my personal email. How should I expect to receive the tracking id? How did you guys get the email for tracking id? Is it on the email associated with your cic account?

I had sent someone to the VAC to. Inquire. They found my passport and said they'll start processing. This was two days back. They didn't give tracking id at that time because their system was down

My passport got to VAC NYC on 6th in December but still haven’t heard anything from VAC. I have a travel plan on 24th in December so I have to get my passport back. Anyone know how to withdraw my passport without visiting the VAC in New York? Also, if I have to visit there, will I be able to get my passport back on the same day?

Hey guys! I wish I discovered this forum WAY sooner so I would have had some form of peace of mind and known what to do.

Nov 27: UPS Tracking updated my documents have arrived at the VAC in NY
---nothing, until.
Dec 11: Got an update from the IRCC that my "document is valid", still no tracking id, and no further updates

For the past week or so I have been reaching out to VFS through phone, e-mail, and chat. None of the representatives had a common answer and everything is just a mess. They can't even tell me the estimated waiting time or WHERE my passport is right now.

My flight is scheduled on 17th dec, which is in 3 days. Should I just give up my flight? Idk what to do anymore I have tried everything, except going to NY (I live in Boston, but it's my finals week) Based on your experiences, when do you think I can get my passport back? I'm considering just giving up my Winter holiday plans in Canada because of this.

Nov-27, Online application submitted
Nov-29, Request to submit Passport
Dec-05 Package received at VFS NY via FedEx. (Included passport, consent form, cashiers check, return Fedex envelope with return label)
After this, no updates from VFS. I started checking the status on IRCC on my application everyday.
Dec-13 My IRCC application status updated to 'decision has been made' and included my Passport details along with 'Counterfoil' status.
I am guessing this means the passport has been stamped and hopefully should see some activity on the Fedex return label tomorrow.
