help we are confused i-130 approved but no change on i-485
Hi all, I'm a little confused. For a long time I have been a silent reader, but I am now looking for anyone that could help me with my case.
I live in Los Angeles, I am married to a US citizen and we applied for a green card through marriage.
We sent our package on 02/22/18 which contained our i-485,i-130,i-765.
02/27/18 we got a letter saying that the received our case, and I should get a biometrics appointment soon.
03/20/10 I took my biometrics and the next day my case status changed that they received my biometrics.
07/09/18 my i-765 was approved and I received my EAD.
12/21/18 my case status for i-485 changed to interview schedule.
02/04/19 I had my i-485 interview
which went well, it took about 45 minutes. It was raining in los angeles that day so their system was down and the IO was not able to take my finger prints or my picture. The IO asked my husband and I pretty simple questions: " where we met, how, who proposed to who, and also looked through our photo album, which from there she took 5 pictures and asked me to name the people on our wedding picture." after that she took a copy of the pictures and told us she would have an answer by 02/15/19 and handed us a paper which had checked the "Your case is being help for review, at this time USCIS does not require anything from you, and to wait 120 days before asking about the case"
02/07/19 we received an approval letter for our i-130 by mail. ( yay we were happy)
Now here is where my questions comes.
03/01/19 I received an email about my i-130 case status that change to " Initial review, that the post office returned a noticed that they sent to me"
hour later that same day 03/01/19 I received another mail from my i-130 case status changed to "Card/Document Production , We mailed your document for receipt number xxx, this step applied to applications that result in an applicant reaching a card (such as a "green card) etc.
I am a confused because I know that the i-130 does not give you a document or a card, so i don't know what is in production ? Can anyone help me figure out what is happening and by the way my i-485 has not updated it is still in " your interview has been schedule" thank you so much for your time, my husband and I would really appreciate your comments.

Supporting Documents / Separate Finances
So my husband and I live at his mom's rent free, his dad pays most of his bills, and he is a terrible driver that I refuse to put on my car insurance. We prefer to keep our bank accounts separate but know each other's pins and online banking passwords.

Is our IO going to give us a rough time for lack of evidence?

I am on his health insurance plan through work and his life insurance policy. We have plenty of family photos, e-mails, texts, etc. but apparently some IOs are more about joint finances.

GC Approved - EB-1
Hi,

I completed by GC interview on 02/14 for EB-1 INDIA in Chicago.

Interview was straight forward. IO asked few basic questions on name, DOB, place of birth and YES/NO questions for I-485 and repeated the same thing for my spouse.

She collected the medicals (as my medicals were expired), supplement-J employment letter and copy of birth certificate.

My application was approved on the same day and we received the cards in a week.

Thanks for all the inputs from the members of this forum and all the best of the members who are waiting for the GC.

GC AOS for parents
We mailed everything out in November, got RFE a little after Biometrics. RFE was to request for my complete copy of tax return of most recent tax year. Then nothing till Feb 19th, I-485 status changed to "Card in Production". Does it mean that the GC was approved? We haven't got AP or EAD or an interview waiver.

Green card interview/timeline
Hello everyone here is my experience and timeline. I came to the US in 2007 at age 13 with a visitor visa and applied for DACA in 2011. I married my wife in 2016 she is US born citizen. We could've sent I-130 and I-485 concurrently but were advised to send them separate which we did. We did not use a lawyer. Here is a timeline:
February 2017- sent I-130 petition
August 2017- sent I-485; no work permit requested since i had DACA.
September 2017- Did Biometrics.
November 2017- I-130 approved but with Consular processing status; went to USCIS to speak because i thought it was a mistake on their part. IO was rude and not helpful. Spoke to lawyer regarding letter, he said not to worry and to just wait.
February 2018- USCIS requested support evidence for sponsor; sent support evidence 4 days later.
May 2018- Case status changed to "ready to be scheduled for interview"
August 2018- Sent work permit application for C9 category since its free and DACA EAD would expire in 4 months. No biometrics needed.
November 2018- EAD card arrived
January 2018- Cases status changed to "Interview was scheduled', interview notice came a week after and scheduled for February.
Here is my interview experience.
Arrived at USCIS building 30 minutes early and went through security. Headed upstairs and seated, there were other people there. Everyone was looking at each other and some were going over their documents and others brought their lawyers. We were called on time and the IO woman took us to her room. We sat down and she told me to stand up, she took a picture and took my index finger prints. She than told us to stand up and do the oath. She requested my passport and i gave it to her it was expired and i also gave her my expired VISA and I-94 departure record. She kept those and said i wouldn't be needing them anymore, she requested I-693 and i gave it to her sealed. She then proceeded to ask me questions while she looked at my application she checked marked as she went a long. She asked me for my full name, when i came to the USA, where i came through, where i was born. She asked if i belonged to any groups or clubs, i told her i did Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, she looked confused so i said its ground fighting and she wrote it down; don't think she understood what it was to be honest. She then asked if i planned to overthrow the U.S government and i was ever convicted etc., those kind of question and i said no to all of them. She asked when i got married. She then asked for the supporting documents which i gave her, she took 5 pictures from the photo album we brought, she did not ask my wife any questions. She then said she was done and i gathered my documents. She said they would do a more thorough background check and that if they needed more documents that they would mail a request and it would take about a month. She escorted us out and we shook her hand; i could tell she didn't want a hand shake. She was not rude but she wasn't nice either, there was no expression or emotion from her. Other IOs were polite and smiling, i low key wanted her be like them. The entire interview took 15 minutes. Other posts say they were approved on the spot and other say their status changed within hours of interview however mine remains the same so I'm starting to worry a bit even though i know i shouldn't. Here is a list of the supporting evidence i brought a long. Certified marriage license, joint bank account, apartment leases, car insurance, Tax return where wife is dependent, Medical Insurance and photo album. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Curious
Hi Guys!

I have a few questions concerning the I-130. I have not done the application but I am thinking about doing so but before I do I am trying to make sure I understand how the I-130 works. If you guys can please help me to understand the process by answering my questions I would really appreciate it.

I am planning on getting married to my fiance who lives in Trinidad and Tobago. We were looking to do the K1 visa but we want to look at all our options so I guess what I am trying to ask is, can my fiance come here on his visitors Visa and we get married here and file the I-130 here? If so, how would it work? Would he get a work permit while he waits?

Can you guys please share your experience with me?! I am really confused and I am trying to figure this thing out.

Marriage-based - Same sex - San Antonio
I came to the US on an F1 visa and got married to a US citizen. We were worried initially since we were a same sex couple, so we hired a lawyer. We collected a lot of documents as evidence and filed them with our application including lease, bank documents, photos, evidence of travel together, car and health insurance, phone call records, receipt of rings purchased, credit cards together, holiday cards from family and affidavits of support from friends and family.

Here is a timeline for our case:

Married - May 2018
Application received by USCIS - June 2018
EAD card - October 2018
Interview Scheduled - January 2019
Interview - February 2019

The interview itself was very smooth. We arrived around 15 minutes before the scheduled time and had to clear security and wait in the waiting room for around 45 minutes as the previous interview was running late. The interviewer was a nice young woman who called out our number and we proceeded to her room. She swore us in and asked us for our id's - we gave her drivers licences and passports and the visa I used to enter. She started asking us very general questions about our names, social security numbers, how we traveled there. She was very friendly and told us that our case will be approved. She also took a picture and the fingerprints. In around 15 minutes, the interview was over.

I had signed up for receiving emails about case status changes online on the USCIS website shortly after submitting the application, We received an email from USCIS in about 1 hour that the new card is being produced.

Hope this helps.
