VO:- who is your client (I dint understand this properly)
Me:- mam your voice is not audible, can you increase volume.
VO:- (Increased) who is your client (I still dint get that)

VO:- I am asking about your client... (Now I understood correctly)
Me:- Yes mam, my client also IBM only.

L1-B Approved . Earlier 221g for same petition
First of all I would really like to thank everyone for sharing their experience in this forum. It really helped me a lot to prepare myself for this time!!!

Only three questions were asked and even before I completed my second answer, the VO has approved my case.

1) How long you are working for your company?
2) What will you do in US?
3) Are you married?

NOTE: For earlier 221g cases do not forget to take the form with you for the interview.
More the experince in company and same project more stronger is the case..

All the best to the US Visa aspirants

Tips for L1B
Just like everyone else I would like to thank you all for posting your experiences and help all the future L1 applicants.
Questions asked are pretty much the same in every interview. But I faced a bouncer first ball.
Do you know what happens on 4thJuly ?
American Independence day.
Though its not important but just be aware of it.
Suggestions:
1. Its tough to keep your cool but keep smiling, thats the key.
2. Speak everything about the specialized tool as if you are the teacher and he is the student.
3. Maintain eye contact, this will help you to be less nerveous. Donot roll you eye balls.
4. Stand straight during the interview and not on one leg.(No chair to sit.)
5. Dress smartly, light shirt(try and wear light shades) and dark pants. Shave properly and have a neat haircut. You are going for business visa, please look neat and tidy.
6. Drink water, keep your self hydrated.
7. Wear the company id card.

Rest GOD will take care. Dont worry. Enjoy and all the best.

My Experience
Hi,

First I would like thank all those who have posted their experience. It is time to put in mine.

I had my L1-Individual stamping today. The appointment was at 11 AM. I, my wife and my 3 month old daughter went for the stamping. Since I had a baby there was no waiting time in the queue. We finished off the security clearance in 5 mins and were guided for the document verification. There was a consulate person who was guiding people for document verification and since we had a baby we were immediately routed to a document verification counter.

Finally once it was completed, we were routed to a VO counter. We had to wait for 11 mins as the person before me was scrutinized. Once he got his visa issued, it was our turn.

VO: Good Morning, How are you today?
Me: Good Morning. We are doing good. How about you?
VO: Fine. So how long have you worked for AAA?
Me: XX months
VO: What is your salary in the USA?
Me: YYYY X $
VO: Where will you be staying in the USA?
Me: ZZZ

He was looking into the computer for some time. Then finally he told the golden words "Your Visa has been issued. You will receive your passport in 5 days". Thats it. Finally my Visa has been stamped.

my experience today
hey guys...i might sound cliched now, but i thank all of you who posted their experiences here and i deem it my responsibility to post mine. i had my interview today at 10:15 hrs in chennai for an l1-blanket.

Was a big queue today as there were 598 applications to be interviewed, the staff told me !!!!

i was waiting from 9:15 outside till i was let in at 10:10. had my docs verified. Interestingly, the verifier kept the 'company letter' outside the BEP folder (the one that specified your specialized expertise). The idea is to not disturb this arrangement and hand it over to the visa officer when he requests for information.

there were quite a few rejections today as I saw atleast 3 ppl rejected in my queue (of 7 or 8) and two of them were L1 blankets

I proceeded to the counter
me: hello, how'r u doing ?
vo: hello, i am fine
vo: can you hand me your documents ?
me: hand him the folder (minus the company letter)
vo: can you place your thumb in the scanner ?
vo: signalling to my spouse, can you too place your thumb in the scanner ?
vo: thats good, so how long are have you stayed with YYYY X
me: x years and y months
vo: who is your client ?
me: ABCVD
vo: what is your role ?
me: i am a business analyst by profession
vo: hmmmm, ....typing something in the screen for a long time
vo: how long have you stayed with this client
me: (i anticipated this cross question)
i am only starting my engagement with this client. but i have executed similar projects for other clients of xxxx.
vo: which clients are these
me: GGGGG and HHHHHH
vo: scribbles gggg in the ds-156 docs
vo: hmmmmm...so what did you do in this previous company of yours 88888...wait, tell me what you did in 9999999.
me: i was a Senior Developer implementing ...blah blah blah
(again a long pause from the vo)
vo: makes notes on the ds-156 docs, puts on some seals and says the golden words...ok you can collect your passport early next week.
me: thank you. have a nice day ( i collect my docs and miss collecting my folder from him :) )

Learnings
1. prepare yourself for some cross questions
2. dont get distracted by other people taking interview
3. keep smiling and try to hold your nerves no matter what.
4. DRESS in FORMALS. I dressed up in proper formals and to my dismay (or advantage rather) saw loads of our guys abysmally dressed in the hall.
5. You have only 3-4 mins with the VO, the easiest way to impress him is to dress good. Dont know why people fail to read this simple fact !

Cleared L1B from Mumbai Consulate
Hi All,

I cleared the L1B visa interview on 08-Sep-2009 in Mumbai.

My experience is as follows:
My interview was scheduled at 8:30 am. so I reached almost 45 mins early, considering Mumbai traffic it is better to start early.
For L1B they collected the passport, I797, 2 copies of I129S and the Demand Draft outside the consulate and immediately gave me the token number. Then they asked me to come back after half an hour as the processing of the draft, etc would take half an hour. After that when i came back i was called inside for Security check and Finger Printing. Then I was asked to wait for my interview call. After around half an hour my token number was announced. Following are the questions asked by the Visa Officer:
1. For how long have you worked for your company?
2. Who is your client?
3. What service do you provide your client?
4. For how long would you be staying in US?
5. In which office in US you would be working?
6. Won’t you be going to the client’s office?
7. What is your education?
8. Do you have specialized knowledge?

After that she stamped the 2 copies of my I129 and said that I would require it at the port of entry. That's it. My visa was granted.

Tips:
1. Please carry an umbrella as the weather of Mumbai is very uncertain. Umbrellas are allowed inside the consulate.
2. Dress formally as that gives the overall impression. Guys should wear a tie and blazer. Girls should be very neatly dressed with hair combed well.
3. Wash your hands properly before going for the interview as there will be only 3 chances given for fingerprinting. After that you will be sent back.
4. Greet the visa officer with a broad smile and be very attentive to whatever he/she says.
5. Do not fumble/stumble while giving the answers.
6. Look confidently in the officer's eye while giving the answers.
7. Rehearse the interview with a friend prior to the main interview. This boosts your confidence immensely. It has worked for me.
8. Do not carry liquid items, cheweing gum, sharp objects etc. If you do so you would end up wasting your time as well as others time. Please value time.
9. You can carry all your documents, folders, etc in a polythene bag, that is allowed inside the consulate.
10.Please do not fake any documents as the punishments are severe leading to even imprisonment.

And remember folks that this is just an interview. There is no need to panic. So all the best to all!
