L1Blanket
Hi
My employer has initiated my L1Blanket and I should be getting my appointment date in the next 20 days.

Have 2 concerns:
1) I am an MBA in Systems and Marketing and have been in IT as a Business Analyst for the last 4 years. How are the experiences of business analysts in the interviews since they do not possess any specialised technical skill set and their work is mainly around requirements gathering, testing and translation requirements to technical specifications. Kindly let me know your experiences.

1) My husband is on an H1 in US for the last 6 years now and has filed for his Green card. Will I be treated as a potential immigrant and will this give rise to any problems in the L1B stamping process?

Thanks!

L1A individual petition
I had my L1A intv on June 15 @8:30AM in Mumbai. I went there with my wife. I was very sceptical as my earlier L1B petition had been denied but a subsequent L1A petition was approved. We had to wait for almost 4hrs for the intv which took place around noon. Before my intv, there was 1 guy with L1B blanket petition and it was approved as well

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning
VO: How long have you been married
Me : YYYY yrs
VO : Any kids
ME : XX
VO : How much will you be paid
Me : XX
VO : Will that be enough? Asks my wife
Her : I guess so.
VO: He laughs. Says it should be enough
VO: What's ur designation
ME : I am lead project manager .....
VO: Ok OK. <cuts me in middle> Your visa is approved. Have a nice time

It all finished in 2 mts after a wait of 4hrs. I was scared about all sorts of questions esp how I filed for L1A immediately after L1B denial. But I guess, US visa people have their own yardstick..

My suggestion : Some preparation does help. Helps you to be confident.

L1 Blanket with family
I had my Interview on June 12, 2009 @ 8:15AM. But I went to the consulate at 7:00 AM itself. I was standing in the queue with my wife and son. The security person asked us to go front.
The whole process was done and I came out of the consulate at 8:20AM itself.

People who are with kids will be given the priority.

Here comes the interview:
Me: Hi Good Morning (With Smile)
VO: Hi Good Morning (With Smile)
VO: (After getting the documents took few seconds to see them)
VO: When did u get married
(My wife was about to answer. VO stopped her and said this is to test your husband (with a smile))
VO: What is ur sons DOB
(Then he took the middle finger impression of my wife and with a smile asked her to wait with my son. Then started to ask me the questions)
VO: How long are you with this company
VO: How long are you with this project
VO: What is your role onsite
VO: Tell me about your project
(When I was answering he was doing something with the documents and was passively listening to what I was telling him)
VO: What you did in this project
(Since I told him about the project done by the team where I was a part of it. This time he stopped doing anything and was looking at me how confident I'm in answering)
VO: What technologies do you know
I Told him that I was using the Internal preoprietary tools for the development.
We should never tell them the common technologies being used as this may lead to rejection.

Be confident in your answers and be smiling the VISA is yours. Consulate people will never like any convincing answers, they will be looking for only the confident answers and not a convincing one.

I was bit tensed initially but then remembered the points given in this forum which was more helpful for me. Be calm and confident.

L1 Blanket for Self,Spouce and child
Hi All,

I had my l1B interview in chennai a couple of days back.

The american culture of providing preference to people with family was followed by all staff.

As a result, the entire proceedings were finished in just 25 minutes

The questions were same as we can see in almost all the posts in this forum. The key is on how confidently can you answer.

All the best!!

L1 interview on 4th June
First of all thanks everybody who have posted their experices over here.. Its great site

I have got interview schedule at 8.30 AM at mumbai consulate.

I was reached there at 7 and waited at nearby sea facing garden
Then at 8 i joined the queue. As they were running late i got chance to get in at 9.30 [Tip: always have a bottle of water and hanky ready. the wheather of mumbai is terrible.]

Once In, they gave me pink token, then security, then finger prints and then waiting.

OK from here you should be more calm, because you will see lots of things around. TV is on. Acception Rejection sad happy lot of things. Just concentrate on the voice which calls ur token number.

Once they call your number with counter. Remind your self to be smiling and be confident. Believe me Confidence is a key, They like to see you confident. More over be polite, dont ask pardon pardon. Sure if you dont understand state clearly that 'Can you Please speak little louder as I cant get your statements.'

I got following q
1)For how long you are working with ABC Company
2)For how long you are with XYZ client.
3)What client does
4)whats ur sal - onshore offshore
5)What ur client does

then started stamping papers. And said golden words - "Come on man! Have a great stay in USA"

Thats it!
She added that one form you shall give back to ABC and one keep with you .. you will need when you enter in USA. She also advise that Dont put in your cabin baggage, put it in hand baggage ! -

What a nice lady

Thanks

Blanket L1B Visa Approved
Hi,

At the outset, I wish the future and propespective applicants the very best for your visa.

I had interview scheduled on 04-Jun-2009 at 7:45 AM. Fortunately, there was not much crowd & I was able to reach Visa Lobby within 20 mins. There were 5 counters opened & most of them were getting approved. I was hoping that the approval strike continues for me too.

I got my turn & visited the free counter. The lady VO looking at my application, said 'Please go to next counter as i am not familiar with this VISA category (?)'. I was much surprised to hear this but kept smile in my face & waited. Finally the VO (male) adjacent to the lady called me up.

VO was giving training to another lady (newbee) of how to interview. So he did not concentrate too much on my answers but however he was listening keenly.

VO : Please keep your right index finger on the scanner
Me : (Much surprised & hoped my VISA is almost done..) I did as he wished.
VO : How long you have been with YYYY company?
Me : X years and y months
(talking to newbee & showed some field in my application)
VO : what is your specialization?
Me: I have specialization in YYYY company properitary tools which are used for requirement gathering, testing etc.
VO : Requirement is not specialized knowledge, is it? (expressed unsatisfication in his face)
Me: (I thought that's it my VISA gone....but i still kept smile & spoke confidently about the tool & how it is used in my project)
Vo: Ok. Who is your client??
Me: XYZ
VO : How long you are working with this client?
Me : Y years and Z months
VO : Your visa is approved , you will get it within 5 working days
Me : Thank you very much.

Tip:

1) Dress formally.
2) Keep smile & be confident
3) VISA is yours.

All the best
