OCI Card

Thought I would post in case anyone was worried if transition between service providers would cause delay. Mine did not. Overall whole process took about 4 weeks. Very pleased with the timeline.

OCI is in the mail, should arrive Nov 4th.

Hello , i have applied my kids oci on 12 and on 21st the status in ckgs changed to that the passport is received and is at sorting facility . Since then i donot see updates .

How long do ckgs take to return passport ? Based on experiences here i see tgey ship in 1 or 2 business days . With they are closing this month end i am bit worried . Please let me know if anyone is in the same boat

I had absolutely no clue that CKGS was shutting down in October 2020, but was lucky enough to send my son's application packet a few days before the deadline. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if I can call myself lucky because now I'm afraid how fast the process will move during this CKGS -> VFS transition. I have a trip to India coming up during the end of December 2020 and I'm hoping with all sincerity that my son's OCI card will come through before that.

Here's the timeline. I'll keep updating it whenever my case moves forward. I lost at least 1-2 weeks of valuable time because of 'Incomplete Documents'. An additional warning for folks to be extra careful!

Sep 23, 2020 - Application ‘Received’ by CKGS and 'Not Verified'.

Sep 28, 2020 - Your Application is 'On Hold' due to the 'Incomplete Documents'.
(Proof of Indian Origin of Applicant - Please provide a copy of the first and last 2 pages of the applicants Both the Parents Indian Passport. You can ship the copy to your CKGS office.)

Oct 01, 2020 - Your Application is 'On Hold' due to the 'Incomplete Documents'.
(The applicants Mothers name in the OCI Government Form does not match the name in the Indian passport. Please provide one of the following documents for your application to be processed further:1. Hello All,

I have got my US Citizenship two days ago, I applied for my US Passport, and in the meanwhile researching on how to get the OCI card.

I stumbled on a few important questions pertaining to my situation.

I have 10 Acres of Agricultural land on my name Around Hyderabad and few plots in Hyderabad, Do you think I will have a problem with these being on my name after I receive the OCI card? Can I buy more land/plots on OCI card status or is it safe to transfer what I have to my siblings?

Anyone applied OCI in VFS portal after CKGS stopped accepting new applications from 10/14/2020?

Hello All,

Has anyone applied OCI for minor recently with NEWYOK CKGS.How long it took to receive OCI after it was acknowledged by Govt of India?

I filed my OCI application in the last week Oct 12th 2020 with Chicago CKGS office, I didn't want to miss the window. After all the first few preliminary steps, I got my US passport back on Friday Oct 16th 2020.

Now the application for new OCI is in the under process status and I can track it on https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury
Heard few people got the new OCI with in 20-30days.Hope I too get it within this timeframe, I have to visit India in December.

Can you share your recent oci experience at chicago?

I sent my US Passport with the Application at Houston & has the Payment Acknowledgement date of October 14th , 2020.
 They have sent the OCI Card for Approval .I am expecting my US Passport . May I know when will i receive the US Passport .
