Hi,
My father is planning to visit India in December via London. The stop over in London is for about 2 hrs.. He received his Green card in 96 and it was renewed this year. Does he still need a Transit Visa?
I noted in the UK visa website that if you have a valid green card issued after April 21st 98, then you do not need a Transit Visa..

Even though his GC was originally issued in 96, it was renewed in 2006. So does he still need Transit Visa?
Please advise.

Thanks..

Hi,
I went to Nogales a couple of months back to get my H1 stamped. Though very long and tiring, the process was pretty smooth. Points to keep in mind:-
1. Dont take ANYTHING with you that you dont need. Women, leave behind your jwellery and your makeup behind. Because you cannot take anyhting other than your documents insidethe counsulate.
2. Arrive well in time, but dont scramble to get there early. The lines are long and it takes everyone almost the same time to get in and get out.
3. Take ALL possible documentation with you, go through all the forums and make a long list and take everything with ytou. Its not worth the tension in front of the officer if you dont have a document he asks for.
4. But most importantly, dont forget to remain cool. This is important but the more nervous you are the longer the interview might be.

all the best!
Ramya

Hi Guys
i am leavin gthis message here because i too had lot of doubt wether i needed transit visa while travelling through frankfurt
details
Currently in H1 visa that has expired in feb 2006, but had valid 797 that is extended for 3 years more. i am travelling to india in july , 16, 2006 from chicago to bombay via frankfurt. i have appointment at us consulate for re-stamping on 19 july, so apllied for transit visa to german embassy anyway as i did not want to risk being denied boarding then would miss the vias appointment at us consulate, however i got letter from german consulate that i do not need transit visa on way from us to india as i had valid 797(even though my H1 had expired), on he way back also i do not need transit visa as i would have valid he (re-stamped)

I just came to US via Frankfurt from Bombay. A transit visa is not required while on advance parole. The following is the response what my husband got from German Consulate when prior to departure from India

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your mail.
Your wife will not require a visa if she stays inside the airport. The Consulate has moved to a new location, please check our web page. Please do not hestitate to contact us if you require any further information.

Kind regards
Britta Petersohn-Barnhusen, Vice Consul

Hi,
I just travelled from sfo to bombay and back in lufthansa airlines via frankfurt on advance parole. My H4 visa had expired. Nobody asked me for transit visa while going to india and when coming back from india, they did ask on what visa i was travelling. I showed them the advance parole and there was no problem. There is no need for transit visa on advance parole.
