Fresh H1B EXPERIENCE
Hello friends,

Here, I'd like to share my experience in detail, which may help atleast someone who anxiously waits for his visa interview.

Fresh H1B and H4 Visas, at Chennai

Our biometric was scheduled on 24th OCT and interview on 25th OCT. In the first place I'd like to say, all processes are very simple and fast, if your documents are genuine.

Day 1- Biometrics

To avoid huge road traffic in Chennai, we booked a serviced apartment near consulate. (US consulate and biometrics are just walking distance to each other). Only your recent passports, hard copies of Ds160 and appointment conformation letter are required for biometrics. The office opens at 8 am. If you have forgotten any docs , there are printout shops within the premises. Officers inside the building (all Indians) verify you above said documents and return your passport with a barcode sticker on the rear side. Please do not tear it off till your next interview. They will also give a slip showing your counter token number. When the tv screen displays your token and counter, pls move on follow the instructions given by the officer. (You can opt your language here, but I personally advise to choose English for h1b. Office will scan your fingerprints, and take ur photos, seal your ds 160 and will return your passports.
All these documents and required for day 2.

Day 2 - VISA INTERVIEW

Be there atleast 1 hour prior to your slot. This is for you to understand the procedure outside the consulate. Be there near to the bus waiting shed. The consulate officers there will display a board with the time slots. When your time slot is displayed , join the queue. Keep your passports and ds160 in hand. Queue moves very fast. Like other posts say, there is no kilometres long queue. Once ur passports and ds 160 verified , you will be going the next small queue which let you inside the consulate. You have to remove you watch and keep it in your envelope for scanning. Once frisking and scanning are over , u can wear your watch back.

After frisking and scanning , you will.be directed to main building. Join the fast moving queue, your passports are fingerprint and passports are verified once again
The you move to the last queue, where the office standing there will.direct you to the interview counter .

Be prepared. Keep all dociments ready. Remember all officers are nice to deal with. Your application will be rejected only if there is a valid reason. Visa will be finished with in 5 mins. Keep eye contact, be confident, you should have clear idea about your firm, the location you are going, your salary and your job responsibilities.VO will verify your new and old passports, if everything fine, your visa will be approved right there. If your application is rejected, they will say under which section your application has been rejected. I found few people getting rejected, because they failed to provide the information VO wanted.

Once your visa is approved , PP wil be retained and you will be given an pamphlet and a paper saying your visa is approved.

Now relax and exit the premises.

H1B at Mumbai- Consular Access currently on STEM OPT
Status: Visa approved. Interview went for around 3-5 minutes.

ME: Good Morning Officer!
VO: Good morning

Gave my passport and I797

VO: Is this your first H1B?
ME: Yes

VO: Will you be directly working for xxx or at a client site?
ME: Directly working for xxx

VO: What location?
ME: abc

VO: Your title?
ME: xyz

VO: Responsibilities?
ME: Explained for about 30-60 sec

VO: Are you married?
ME: Responded

VO: Engaged?
ME: Responded

VO typing something for about a minute.

VO: Alright, I am approving your visa, you will receive your passport in about a week

I've seen many negative experiences on this website, thought, should provide a positive one. Be confident, respond what's asked for (a word or two in most of the questions) and you should be all good.

First H1B stamping in Chennai
Hello all,
I attended my first H1B stamping in Chennai consulate on Oct 22nd. I am a full time employee and direct hire from a reputed company all over the world. Here were the questions from VO (The VO did not even bother taking look at a single paperwork of mine)
1. Which location do you work
Told the location
2. The company is pretty big, what do they do?
Told him specifically about what my division works in
3. What do I work as
Answered him on my position and told him briefly on what I work
4. What is your highest level of education
Answered him about my master's degree
5. What is your specialization
Provided him with a crisp answer
6. What is your salary
Told him
His comments "I have everything what I need to approve your visa yet I am placing you under administrative processing. I do not see it taking too long"
He also said he did not need any more documents from my end and will get in touch in case they need anything from me.
He did not answer my question on "what sort of time frame am I looking at" and just said "It wont take that long".
Gave me the blue slip with check box on "you need further admin processing" and KEPT MY PASSPORT
I have been tracking my case
Case created: Oct 21st
Case updated: Oct 22nd
No updates since then. has anyone faced any similar situations? If so, what is the anticipated timelines for decision? Should I be worried if no documents was asked from me?
Please advise.
Thank you

H1b 221g white slip passport kept
Hi all
I had an interview on September 11th for h1b visa.the offices just asked me basic questions and said we need to do additional processing and it should only take no more than a week and gave me a small white slip.
The status on ceac website says adminstrative procecessing.

The last updated date changed twice. One on 10th oct and again on 15th oct. And no change since then.
It's almost been 6 weeks and communication was made to my client, employer or vendor.

Is anyone else on the same board. Really appreciate any responses.

Thanks

Hello All,
Do any one have similar situation? H1 Visa Stamping (got 221g),
I attended for H1B Visa Stamping at Hyderabad Consulate on 24-Oct-2019 and got 221(g).

None of the Documents are asked to submit, only box was checked on 221(g) is
"Your application requires additional administrative processing before a final decision can be made."

Did anyone face the same situation? if yes how much time would it take them to respond back to us.
Looking for your valuable thoughts.

Different Client with in same MSA and visa interview
Hello All,

My H1B got approved last year with client ‘A’. But now I’m working with client ‘B’ but with in the same LCA region ( Same County ) so my employer did not filed amendment saying that no amendment required for new client as it is in the same MSA and the job role is also same.

I’m planning to attend for visa stamping in December.
Anyone here attended stamping with same scenario ?
Would it cause any issue during interview ?

Any help is appreciated. Thnx !

Case under AP since 5 months
Hi,

Appeared for visa interview on May 22 (Delhi) and questions asked were :

1. What was the reason your H1B extension got rejected ?
Ans: I did'nt knew the reason as companies normally doesnt pass that info.
2. Asked for Client Letter
3. Client Details
4. Role and job description

Post interview issued blue slip and gave back the passport to me. Additional documents to be provided were:
1. Extension Denial reason
2. Client Letter (used while filing)
3. Complete petition for H1 and H4 all

I think I got 221G issued for not knowing my denial reason. We sent requested documents on May 31, and ever waiting since then. After 2 month or so, got email asking Updated Client Letter (latest), which we provided in August. And again the wait continues.

On October 16th first time the Case Last updated date changed, and then again on Oct 22. Apart from this no updates, and the wait continues.
One observation from the various forums I have is, mainly these prolonged cases are for the interviews held at Delhi. Don't know if I would have appeared for the Mumbai, things would have been better.

Regards
Rajeev

H1B Renewal stamping at New Delhi stuck in Admin processing
I am a FTE working for a decently sized American company. Submitted my docs on Sept 30th at New Delhi VFS center for stamping. My previous H1B stamping was with same employer. Below is my timeline

Sept 30 submitted docs for dropbox
Oct 4th got passport back with white slip asking to appear for fingerprint and interview

Oct 9th appeared for interview at New Delhi embassy. VO asked basic questions like role, if you did masters from US, which University and when did you graduate. VO said your visa is approved. She did not give any slip, did not ask for any documents and did not say that my case needs admin processing. Just told that when my visa is ready, I will get a SMS.

Oct 16: "Case last updated" date changed but still in AP

Oct 22: "Case last updated" date changed but still in AP

Still waiting..Anyone else in the same boat?
