I-485 Denied because we left USA without advance parole! Devasted!
I am a US citizen and brought my fiancé and her two kids over from the UK on a K-1 Visa. We married within the 90 days and applied for legal immigration status by filing the I-485.
While the application was pending we crossed over the US border to go to the beach in Mexico (Rocky Point) and returned across the border several hours later. We were told at the border that we weren't supposed to leave the US without advance parole. We didn't know we weren't supposed to leave but were let back in to the USA. Yesterday we received a letter telling us our I-485 has been denied due to this incident and for wife and kids to immediately leave the USA! We are devastated because my wife and kids have lives here now--in school, society, new friends, etc. Is there anything we can do for them to legally stay and try to overcome the I-485 denial?
