EB1C_24APR2017-PD : I 485 Interview on Jun 20 2018
USCIS interview started after approximately waiting for 40 min. The USCIS officer was a lady. First she asked me and my wife to sit in specific seats - me on to her left side and my wife on to her right side. My son also accompanied me to the interview. She brought additional chair for my son, and had him sit in the corner on her right side. She verified our id's and then made us take oath and started the process.
she asked for my medicals first thing as my medicals expired. Then she looked for my birth certificate. my original birth certificate was old and very fragile document. she took it carefully and inspected it. She asked me if I had any other birth proof. I showed her document issued by Municipality - which has my cast and birth information. She took that document and made a copy of it. My wife's birth certificate had only father's name and not her mother's name, so we showed her affidavit one each from each parent. She asked for original and took copy of it. She asked for and verified my son's birth certificate. She asked for Employee's letter showing my designation etc details - I gave her Suppliment J form and also a Employee letter (Verification of Employment letter with designation and salary details along with date of joining).
She verified each and every document and details, and updated the information on the file. She took copies of documents which she needed. Took our signatures and initials. asked us yes/no questions. She asked us if we have traveled outside US after our I 485. We did not travel out of us after US, so we said no. (it is important to travel using AP only and not L1/H1 visa after I 485 is initiated to maintain the status else I 485 will be forfeited)
Complete process went on for over 1 hour. Interview location CT - Hartford.

End of the interview, she informed me that Visas to issue GC are currently unavailable, the PD and situation may change in Oct this year. She informed me that USCIS doesn't require any other document/information form us. She said that we need to wait till the PD becomes current again and their may (or may not) be another interview. USCIS would notify us 1 month in advance in case of interview.
The lady was courteous but was very thorough. Though the whole process seems tedious and tiring, the lady was with a smile on her face all the time, this made us feel more relaxed and comfortable.
