L1, L2 Visa

Hi,

              My husband is on an L1A visa which he got renewed via premium processing in October 2020. I had applied for my L2 visa extension also simultaneously and my I539 process is still stuck in Received status and I haven’t even got a Biometric appointment. Subsequently I have had to go on Leave of Absence as my EAD renewal also is also stuck in process because of the underlying L2 Visa extension process. My question is, since the L2 Visa timeline seems to be about 10 months now, can I go to my home country India and apply for my L2 renewal via the DropBox route. I know that I will likely abandon my I539 processing once I leave the USA, but I am willing to take this route as long as I have a reasonable chance of getting my L2 visa renewed in India via the DropBox route.

Also, since my husband got his L1A visa renewed while in the USA, he has the I797 and I94 with renewed dates till 2023 – but he doesn’t have a new visa stamped till 2023. Would it be okay if I provide the renewed I797 and I94 as proof for my L2 renewal documentation while I use the Dropbox option in India.
