My naturalization journey
I used to come to this website for help while my case was being processed. This has been very helpful.I would like to share my experiance to others. I came to the US as an asylee in 2011. I submitted my asylum application in May. I did the interview in August. I received my work permit in September the same year (2011). I applied for my greencard after a year in 2012 and received it in september 2012. I tried to apply for naturalization in 2015 but was told it was a year early. I waited for a year (In the meantime I worked and went to school. I got my Masters degree). I submitted my naturalization application in Dec 20 ,2016. Received an interview schedule email in March 2016, I did my Interview in May 22. I was graduating on May 23rd the next day. During my interview I told the IO that. We talked about that and some other stuff about school. He asked me civic questions. I answered the fist six and he congratuated me and told me he will send me the letter after 3 weeks. I didn't get it in three weeks. But got it after two and a half month in August. I was getting ready to travel internationally and already bought the ticket when I got the mail indicating my oath ceremony was scheduled for August 22nd. I was planning to travel on the 24th. I was gonna use my passport from my home country. I knew I wasn't supposed to but I was desperate. Anyhow , I did my oath on 22nd , went and applied for a passport on the same day , and got my passport on the 23rd and travelled as an American citizen on the 24th. Thank you God and Thank you American Efficiency. I love this country. Thank you everyone who ever posted anything on here because it helped me a lot. Let me know if you have any questions. This happned in Washington , DC.
