Such a long journey is finally over for me. Filing office: Miami, Fl
Hi, everyone! I’ve been silent reader for years. Nights of crying, tons of anxiety and today that journey is finally over for me.
I came to US more than 6 years ago and applied for asylum. Never been called for interview, but in June 2019 I got married and my husband (US citizen) filed to adjust my status. Our interview was scheduled really quick, but it was canceled due to Covid-19. After long wait it was rescheduled for October 13th 2020. Our officer was super nice. I saw him having my asylum case on hands, but he only asked me if I heard anything from asylum office since I filed case. I told him that I have never been called for that interview. Then he asked me some questions about my previous marriage (why I got divorced, where is my ex now etc). I filed for asylum with my ex (I was petitioner), that’s why I think he had lots of questions about my past relationships. But I got divorced more than 2 years prior I married my husband. And I explains to him why I got divorced and how our relationship with my husband started. Then he asked us to show him some pictures of me and my husband (we had 3 albums with tons of pictures from our multiply trips, including trip with my family to Washington, NY, Atlantic City). He kept some of the pictures, also we gave him different documents (bills, joint bank account, joint taxes, documents for our Dog with both our names on it etc). Try to bring as many evidences as you can. After the interview he said that he needs to review my asylum as well as my marriage case and we will hear the decision within 90 days.
I was checking my case status online frequently, but it got updated only after I received approval letter in my mailbox. I received green card 2 days after.
I’m really happy now. Feeling so grateful to Universe.
Here is my timeline.
