Traveling to Brazil with Advanced Parole during Travel proclamation that suspended entry due to Covid
Hello Everyone,

I want to share my story of traveling to Brazil with Advanced Parole during the presidential proclamation that suspended entry of Immigrants and Non-Immigrants who has been during the past 14 days in Schengen Area, the United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside of Europe), Ireland, Brazil, and South Africa.

I went to Brazil on 02/15/21 and was returning on 03/14/21. When I was doing my check in at the airport I was told the advanced parole is not an exemption of this rule. In any case she scanned my card and sent to the US immigration which confirmed that I couldn't fly back with this document, unless I could prove that I'm marriage with an US citizen or green card holder, which was not my case.

So, I booked another flight to Mexico (Cancun) the next day, getting there on 03/15/21. I spent around 2 weeks there before I flew back to US on 03/31/21.

When I got to the immigration in USA (JFK), I was asked if was my first time traveling with advanced parole and I said yes. I was sent straight to a room where I had to wait around 30 min as other people were also waiting at the time. After she took my folder (Passport + Advanced Parole) the agent looked in her computer for around 5 min and called me asking "where I'm coming from?". I said: "Mexico". She asked: "How long did you stay there?", I said: "15 days", then she confirmed I had the Mexican stamp in my passport, asked me to remove the mask to check my passport picture and gave back my documents saying "You are good to go!"

It wasn't that easy coming back through Mexico, but I had a good time there and everything worked fine!

I should add that Mexico did not require any Covid test coming from Brazil, neither quarantine and going back to USA from Mexico I had to do Covid test within 3 days before flight. I paid 20 USD to do the antigen rapid test in "Ahorro" pharmacy that took me 15 min. In Cancun and Playa del Carmen they actually have Covid test sites everywhere and is very easy to do.
