i came with j1 visa and changed to f1 and then married to a citizen in 2018
i had illegal work experience and i filed tax during f1. it was about an year.
during the interview, the interviewer specifically asked how long i worked and what kind of job it was. and i honestly answered them. please do not worry so much since the interviewer clearly said it is forgiven to whom married to u.s. citizen. they will ask the illegal work period and occupation. the interviewer also asked my husband how i came to the u.s. and what company sponsored my visa. please have your partner to understand your u.s. visa and work history as well. lying won't be forgiven so be honest under oath. illegal work and overstay are forgiven to citizen's partner.
