  • my i485 - big confusion - help

    Hello Everybody.
Please if, you can help me with any advice or explanation of what's going on with my i485.....
right now i'm just completely lost and very nervous......

well i filled all the necessary documents and papers, and in the beginning everything was going well,me and my husband started our case on November 12th 2013, some time in December 2013 i got the letter with appointment for biometrics, they were taken in December (sorry, don't remember the exact date)
At the end of Jan i received my EAD card, got my ss and driver's license permit - no problem. At the end of Jan also my case status for i485 was change to "Ready for interview scheduling" since that day i got no letter, no nothing, and people at the uscis were not helpful at all, i called a couple times, i was worried that my letter was stolen due to undesirables living at our building......
Then in the beginning of March 2014 i had to move to a different town, change the address online, got the letters approving the new address.
Still no interview notice, no new information......
to my big shock TODAY i checked my case status online for i485 and it says its back to the background checks and BIOMETRICS APPOINTMENT!!!
how that's possible, i had my fingerprints and photos taken in December 2013........ i'm very concerned.....
since i cant call uscis today, im writing my story here, maybe somebody can give me some advice what to do....please help im very nervous...

not only that in May im moving again, to a different state, my husband just graduated from collage and got great job opportunity that we can not pass on.... so i will be changing my address again...... i wonder how that is going affect my processing times....... im so fed up with this right now and just completely worried......

Your address changes, with possible case transfers to different USCIS offices, are contributing to your confusion and problems with USCIS.

You need to stick with one address at which you can receive mail and justify as your "domicile" location, until you have the Green Card.

Well thank you Ray, but while waiting for everything to be aproved, life goes on .....
My first move was due to terrible experiences with tenants.
And i will be moving again, i cant just sit and pass on great opportunities, because i have to wait for my gc......
I feel like i didnt do anything wrong.
Sorry, money is very tight for us right now, we have to be were my husband can work.

Yes, i wish that i could just wait and stick with one address but life is not that simple for young couples.......

        Buziness poster,

It doesn't matter where you are physically located at the present time. But for an immigration procedure, it is advisable to use a P O Box for mail or a trusted relative for an address that will remain the same throughout the process.

If you move every three months without USCIS considering you in the same service area, your file might never catch up with you, and an average 6-month processing time can end up being two years or more.

Without getting your address changes on your immigration file in a timely manner, you risk having an interview or request or evidence mail item left at the wrong address, and then getting a denial for abandonment of your Adjustment procedure, with a subsequent "reopen" costing you $600, if it isn't too late to reopen the case.

Even when calling in or submitting AR-11 or going online for address changes, such changes don't always reach your active file.

Well Ray, so what should i do....
I dont think so that moving to another state without letting uscis know its a great idea....
Because then what? I have to travel half the country just to get to my interview ....... And how they going to react to that fact that i didnt let them know about this important change in my case/life

Normally, one has only a single interview (after Biometrics) to get the conditional Green Card. A high percentage of Adjustment applicants (from K1 visas) even have that single interview waived. Permanent address changes are supposed to be reported to USCIS within 10 days after a move. But your permanent address, or mailing address, can remain the same throughout your Adjustment processing.
