  • Health insurance through spouse’s new job?

    Good Evening Everyone!

my wife is under 26 and she’s been on her parents insurance plan until now but she just recently changed jobs and her current job offers good health insurance.

I don’t have any health insurance as the moment and I’m not allowed to work yet, still waiting for my EAD, but I DO have a social security number which I got in a previous entry to the US when I was working on a J visa.

The question now is can I be added to her new health plan since they only require a SSN knowing that I’m not really able to use that SSN without the EAD? any thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks a lot

Yes. Your employment status should not matter. My wife was unemployed (student) when I added her to my work insurance and had no issues.

I am on the insurance of my hubby too. And for now I don’t have a SSNumber. So it should be no problem for you.
