March 202 filers

I called USCIS and they informed me that my AOS package has been rejected (for a second time) for "improper filing". The original denial had been for filing after the public charge rule went into place (and lacking the i-944).

On this second application, all of the forms were current, and everything was triple-checked, so goodness knows what the problem is. They say the package will be back with me by Friday. Will update you all further then.

EDIT: Apparently they were looking at my original rejected case (I called back), and my resubmitted case hasn’t been rejected (yet).

The explanation for why the first operator said it’d be back by Friday is because the original case had April 10th as the “contact us” date if we hadn’t received the original rejected case back by then.

Hi people. I’m new here as well.

Package got received and signed for at the Chicago lockbox on the 13th of March 2020.

Still waiting on them for a notice of receipt. Cheque hasn’t been cashed either.

Called USCIS customer service for the umpteenth time and they couldn’t really help as they had nothing on their system records.

They did recommend sending an email to [email protected]

Prayers, faith and patience is what the process calls for I suppose.

I almost got a heart attack when I saw your post too. I got rejected on Mar 13, resubmitted it on Mar 24, and haven’t heard anything from them. I created account on uscis case status with my rejected receipt numbers. But there is no update yet. I think I will call them next week.

Hello guys - Any applicant post-March 20 who got their receipt/text and cheques cashed yet? I submitted my AoS on March 20, got there March 23 but nothing yet from them. Something happened after March 20th that slowed down everything.

Nope, I haven't received anything yet. Plan to call them sometimes next week.

I know one person who have filled on march 20 and uscis received package on 23 march and he got receipt # on 8 april by text message

So basically if everything is fine, we should receive receipt number within 2-3 weeks, right? Hopefully. If I don’t receive anything by next Wednesday, I will call them.
Irishoxford when you called them last time, did you use A number or receipt number of the rejected I-485?

I continue to use my A-number in communications with them. I also clarify that I’d had a previous case rejected for improper filing. That generally cuts down on any confusion (mostly), especially given the other day when they nearly gave me a heart attack by talking about the original case.
