  • Public charge - health insurance

I am a US citizen and plan to apply for my husband's AOS. I am pregnant and recently lost my job. If I take MassHealth insurance (Federal and State funded Medicaid health insurance) while I am pregnant, will it come under public charge. The Massachusetts government website states that there are some exceptions when the MassHealth insurance will not be considered a public charge, one exception is pregnancy.
My husband's has his own private health insurance. Thanks

The public charge does not apply to U.S. citizens.

Please review this slide set - I found it useful. There are many "safe" benefits.

If link is removed - then google "MLRI Public Charge Representing Adjustment of Status Applicants"

Legal advice on Youtube should be viewed as highly suspect unless or until you can verify through a more credible source.

You are U.S citizen public charge does not apply for you. Your husband's application will not be affected in any way. Im pretty sure they will not ask. Plus medicaid for pregnancy is not considered public charge. I took that benefit and was still aproved for GC.
