If you leave the U.S. before you physically have the document in hand, you could face problems when trying to re‑enter. USCIS mailings aren’t considered valid proof at the border unless you’re carrying the actual stamp or travel document yourself. Having a friend mail it to you overseas usually doesn’t work, because immigration officers want to see the original document issued directly to you. The safest option is to wait until you receive the stamp before traveling, or contact USCIS to see if there’s a way to pick it up in person. If you leave without it, there’s a real risk of being denied entry or at least having a very difficult time coming back.

Traveling before I551 stamp arrival
Hi, I have applied for the stamp And the Uscis called me back and said it will be mailed to me within 7 to 10 business days didn’t happen. Now I need to travel to Turkey latest in a few days. Can I just leave the country and my friends delivers me the stamp document after. Will there be a problem upon re-enter the us Because I left before I received the document?Tags: None
