  • Unemployment benefit for GC holder

Month back i got my green card and now i am laid off. Am i eligible for unemployment benefit(state-Colorado). If so, what are all the papers required from the employer? Eventhough, i am employed with my employer(who sponsered my GC) but i was not paid for the last 3 months. Do i need the latest paystuff?

Re: Unemployment benefit for GC holder

You need to get this information from your state's employment agency. They usually have a website off the main state government website (at least that's where it is here in CA).
They also usually have offices all over the state. Consult your local phone book.
And of course you need paystubs. If you were on H1 before you got the GC, and your employer didn't pay you at that time, they were violating the law. If they didn't pay you the salary that you were promised in the LC and employment offer letter after getting the GC, they were violating the law. Better get a lawyer to sort this mess out.
