Overstay and Expired Green Card

My parents in Pakistan for the last 7 years and their green cards expired in April 2018 and now they want to go back to USA, so please do confirm there is any way or form so that they can go back to USA

They can apply for SB1 returning resident visa in U,S embassy and they must explain why they couldnt return for 7 years.

Their chances of returning as permanent residents are slim and none, in my opinion filing as returning residents is a waste of time and money. You must start a petition for them afresh.
