How to apply for Re-Entry permit for existing Greencard holder in USA?

Hi I'm in USA currently with a valid Greencard. I've applied for a greencard re-issue as the 10 year period is over. Also, I'll be getting an I551 stamp as I have an appointment for it now.

Now after getting the I551 stamp, I am planning to apply for a Re-Entry permit as I have genuine reasons to be in India, to help my parents with personal work, etc.

Are there any current instructions on how to apply for a Re-Entry permit (2 years?). Any issues I have to be careful about? Should I hire a lawyer for this permit?
