Case Status Online for GC

My wife is a Citizen and she has applied for my GC in Dec 2001. My fingerprinting has been done a year ago. I got my EAD almost one and half year ago. I dont know how many days TSC will take to process the GC. We have applied my GC via mail and havent received any Application Receipt Number. I have only my A number.

Now to check the status online they are asking for the Application Receipt Number which I dont have.

1. First thing should I have to have the Application Receipt number for all future correspondence? If yes, then how do I get that Application Receipt Number now?

2. Is there anyway where I can check my status with my A number?
